To meet the needs of students who only need a completion award in linework, this institutional award consisting of two introductory skills courses is being added to the existing CE Linework Program; CE currently offers a Lineworker Level 1 Certificate with an internship course should students wish to pursue after receiving the institutional award. Jonathan Buckstead motioned to approve; seconded by Carol Hawk. Approved. Plumbing CE OSA, CIP TBA – 208 Contact Hours (Luis Castillo) Area companies have been recruiting students immediately after completion of the program. Revise Award – Effective Fall 2021 Health AS – updating title to Health and Wellness AS to align with the THECB program inventory CIP update and adding Creative Arts. The award name change was initially a result of the new Field of Study (FOS) curriculum, which aligned with the corresponding CIP title. Subsequently, the Health and Wellness FOS was temporarily suspended by THECB. Therefore, this award also needs to be revised to comply with the Core Curriculum Course requirements; it is missing a Creative Arts core course option. Even though the FOS was suspended, updating the title will assist with increasing visibility and distinguishing it from Health Sciences programs. Additionally, the program description and transfer and career information need to be updated to reflect the revised title. Tomi Welch motioned to approve with deletion of second Language, Philosophy, and Culture core option and just leaving Creative Arts in Semester IV; seconded by Ron Johns. Approved with edits.

Revise Award – Effective Fall 2021 Emergency Management AAS – updating and rearranging courses Moving courses within award plan. Changing degree plan to match realities of scheduling. It was discovered that there was a typo in Semester IV: new course addition GEOG 1301 Introduction to Physical Geography should be GEOL 1301 Natural Hazards and Disasters; or will allow other Life and Physical Sciences Core List courses. Department is flexible with permitting some substitutions. Committee requested more specific information be provided in footnotes: Add Ethics course. Suggest listing SOCI as preferred course (needs advisory committee approval first) Tomi Welch motioned to approve updates with edits to footnotes to permit flexible course options, correcting GEOG 1301 to be GEOL 1301 with footnote providing option to choose alternate Life and Physical Sciences course, add footnotes math, geology to list preferred course; seconded by Ron Johns. Committee requested James to follow-up with his advisory committee to inform them of the edits and to discuss listing the SOCI course as preferred and to review SPCH course options and then return to the committee of any further updates. Approved. Post meeting note: James Daniels plans to meet with his advisory committee in January. Update: James provided an update 1/26/21 – He spoke to his advisory committee: they agreed with the inclusion of the ethics course for the philosophy requirement, the substitution of SPCH 1315 for the communications requirement and language in the footnotes indicating that the listed courses are the recommended courses for completing the core requirements, but that any course chosen from the approved core curriculum list will be acceptable. He worked with Dean Giao Phan to revise the proposed AAS for 2021-22; AVP Gretchen Riehl approved via email 4/27/21 revisions align with what the Committee’s approved and provides university alignment for articulation. Modify Course EMAP 1440 Disaster Exercise Design and Evaluation (4-4-0) – adding prerequisite HMSY 1391 Approved in previous motion.

1. Update from Degree Health Work Group (Tomi Welch) Tomi reported she and Jacob Williamson and others have had much discussion. Agreed that all needed to meet again December 1 to further define and work on the concrete goal: create a committee/group mentorship that works together to teach others about degree audit and how to make sure plans work for most students (transfer, reverse transfer, auto award students). Students would not have to apply to graduate; will save man hours. Already have work in progress process for meta majors (awards have same first term coursework). Courses moves with students as they change personal goals. Allowing Great Questions. Will not change program maps but have improved working process for degree audit. Promote ideas of changing from plans in semester format to block format for degree audit. Advisors and Counselors prefer the block format. Goal is getting audits cleaned in preparation for conversion to WorkDay. Any proposals will be shared with C&P Committee in January 2021. 2. Discussion on forming a work group to update the Curriculum and Programs Committee Manual Update (Gaye Lynn Scott) a. Current posted manual: Curriculum and Programs Committee Manual 2015 (Dec 18, 2015) b. 07-20-20 C&P Manual 2020 DRAFT #1 Gaye Lynn supports forming workgroup to update Manual. 2015 manual out-of-date. Suggested dividing up sections and allowing folks to track proposed changes. GLS will email committee with updates. All committee will review/update. 3. Discussion on 2020 CIPs (Classification of Instructional Programs) and SOC (Standard Occupational Classification) – reference: Labor Market Information - Crosswalks & Resources (Gretchen Riehl) Gretchen shared PowerPoint to educate committee on CIP Codes vs. SOC Codes. Provided definitions of codes and use of the codes. CIP and SOC codes are used for funding purposes. CIP is from Classification of Instructional Codes from National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is used for reporting (xx.xxxx xx format). The codes provide descriptions of the specific programs. Note: ACGM and WECM are organized by CIP codes. Current edition is CIP 2020. Standard Occupational Codes come from Bureau of Labor Statistics – federal standard on occupational data (xx.xxxx format). Fewer options than CIPs. Current edition is 2018. Daniel Chupe-O’Hanlon is in-house authority. There are several crosswalks which Daniel can explain. Daniel provided a calendar link so people can discuss Labor Market Information with him further. There are plans to include LMI information in program maps. 4. Meeting Minutes - October 16, 2020 – reference: Draft Minutes Jonathan Buckstead motioned to approve; seconded by Cathy Angell. Approved
