Minutes
Priyam presented a list of applications that are available on Online Services, but are not available with the as-delivered Self-Service. The discussion was restricted to the applications that are available to students. The questions are: Are these applications still needed? And if so, how do we determine how to make available these applications as Online Services/Web Advisor gets phased out?
1) Graduation
Decision: The Self-Service version is acceptable.
2) Student Advising
Decision: The Online Services version does not need to be replaced in Self-Service.
3) Student Status
Considerations: Self-Service does not include, and probably will never include, the number of student withdrawals. However, it appears there is new state legislation that is changing the number of permissible withdrawals from 6 to 7, plus adding some requirements related to email notification. It is likely that ACC will need a custom solution to display the number of student withdrawals.
4) Core Completion Check
Considerations: This functionality does not exist in as-delivered Self-Service, and is unlikely to ever do so. The Advising community needs to be questioned to determine whether this functionality is used and desired. Keelee suggested utilizing Google Analytics on Online Services pages to help assess the usage of some of these features.
5) Educational Goal
Considerations: This is not included in as-delivered Self-Service, and is unlikely ever to be included. Per OIEA, there is an assumed state reporting mandate related to students updating annually there educational goal. However, a point was raised that there have been no consequences related to the fact that students are using Self-Service and not updating their educational goals. Thus, it is not yet clear whether this functionality needs to be recreated in the post-Online Services environment.
6) Emergency Alert
Considerations: The as-delivered version of Self-Service appears designed as a form allowing students to designate who to contact in case of emergency. The existing Emergency Alert functionality in Online Services is designed to allow students to specify how to be contacted in the case of an emergency. Priyam will contact the Emergency Management Coordinator to get feedback on how to proceed in the post-Online Services environment.
