ASAC (Supervising Committee) gave suggestions for action. We can add this to the guidelines of the College Accessibility Committee over the next year. More procedural solution than a rule-making solution.

RVS accessibility and ADA compliance

Lauren Matthys presented the ADA Audit of SAS and other offices @ RVS. . •Andy Kim: o Sharron Jenkins handles work requests related to furniture and accessibility. o Submit a work request and mention accessibility. ● Marcela: Is there any audit process for new/remodeled spaces? o Steve: Architects are responsible. College doesn’t have a person or position designated. ● Ginger: Is this ADA Compliance office's responsibility o (Andy Kim) New Space-Hired to inspect the space (third party) The furniture Team has been moved to operations: The work request system is the procedure for ADA-related furniture requests. ● Lauren’s Questions: o How does the College ensure that its architecture/spaces are ADA-compliant and usable by all? o Andy-answered that for new and remodels in process: Architects o For existing spaces: Campus operations and furniture requests o These personnel could be better trained on accessibility o Who is ultimately responsible for ensuring that ACC's architecture/spaces are ADA compliant and usable by all? The grievance process is not clear on the website-focused on discrimination as opposed to access. Who is responsible for revising? o Charline Buckley o The process for grievance (maybe a more collaborative approach is more appropriate, and better more appropriate language) o What can be done now and for future remodels/builds to create more accessible meeting spaces for our students and staff?? o Call to action: Accessibility and Universal Design should be at the forefront of every decision at the college.
