Should ACC adopt ACGM course descriptions/outcomes? (Ron Johns)
Committee discussed whether they have the authority to make the decision about ACC using ACGM course titles, descriptions, and learning outcomes. Committee supports ensuring transferability of courses. It was noted that some schools adhere to the ACGM course information while others do not. Samuel stated titles are less important than outcomes and indicated he was in favor of adopting ACGM outcomes. Gretchen felt ACC may be out of compliance of this requirement. Gretchen and Gaye Lynn will discuss with Mike Midgley. Gaye Lynn indicated ACC needs a definition of ‘compliance’. Members discussed reviewing courses during the 3-year review process to determine if they comply with ACGM. The college is permitted to add additional information to the ACGM text.
Brandon moved to adopt ACGM titles, descriptions, and outcomes. No second.
James moved to conduct an academic course audit to gain understanding of where ACC stands. No second.
Jonathan stated his concern about learning outcomes.
