Meeting & Agendas
2301/2302 Updates-Kimberly 2301 textbook will update in the Fall 2301 committee to redo LO’s, HW, assessments, etc. (will send out email on updates) 2302 committee to meet regarding new assessment for this Summer Assessment has been too difficult for students since 2021 changes
Discussion with program review committee regarding sync/async are outperforming our in-class sections in assessments (2301/2302)
Denise stated that we need to have “continuous improvement” in our assessment goals. Discussed 80% to get 70% or better in the midterm & final for both 2301 & 2302. 2301 - Excellent results 2302 - Not even close to passing - committee plans to make the assessment more attainable for this Summer. CPA Exam Results - Considered indirect (must also have direct) 2303 - did NOT meet the target (they are missing by 1 prob or 1-2 students) Discussed revisiting assessment after CPA evolution rollout May possibly move to 2304, but then Acct Specialist students would be excluded 2347 - Research - Part 1 of project only Denise recommended that we retire this PSLO because the current 2303 PSLO will cover our CPA students. Vote: unanimous Technician classes - All passed; no actions required
Strengths-Faculty & wide variety of of courses Weaknesses-Dept Communication & Lack of adequate marketing Opportunities-Curriculum, Prog Offerings & Tech advances & Promotion/Awareness of acct programs Threats-Competition from other colleges & CPA exam changes
Developing new tax survey course for CPA evolution Vote: unanimous
NRG campus: all 8-week courses unless it is petitioned otherwise Hybrid courses - mandatory training for instructors (stipend)
21 LEH maximum will be enforced for FTF; 11 LEH for adjuncts Denise suggested that advanced accounting have async section to stay competitive Larry suggested to share sync class opportunities with async sections
Larry asked about removing the 2301 prerequisite for 2302
SWOT analysis brought out that there is a lack of communication between the dept Kimberly suggested more virtual meetings and more email communications to include adjuncts Denise suggested bringing back the newsletter Larry suggested a discussion board Reed asked if we should keep having 2 BTS meetings Most commented that we should keep both Meeting Attendance: FTF : May Wang, Denise White, Kimberly Cameron, Kelli Blount, Okera Bishop, La Tasha Roberts, Larry Stephens, Dr. Reed Peoples, Jay Thibodeaux, Johnny Howard, James Pumphret, Yolonda Holland, May Wang.
