Troy Jefferson explained to the committee that the goal of training Peer Advocates is to have qualified students, trained to support their peers in multiple ways. These students will offer support, ranging from Student conduct violations, grading and classroom conflict, enrollment issues, financial aid challenges, and much more. Troy pointed out that ACC can be difficult to navigate on your own, and data suggests that students tend to listen to their peers in such instances.

Minutes

During the Student Rights and Responsibilities Committee meeting today, the administrative rule (#6.1202.01) for the Student Standards of Conduct was presented for review. As you can see the last edit based on the document was 2013. Please review the rule and make suggestions that aim to make the wording more student-friendly and less legal. This rule is connected to the Student Standards of Conduct and Academic Integrity guidelines and procedures we have been working on and presenting to the council. Please add comments by next Wednesday, October 16th. Once the comments are received a review and approval (via online voting) by this committee is required to move it forward to the council.
