Reagan High School has already dropped the automotive part of it's name. All agreed. Bob said he thinks it may just be a surface level fix. Shawn said it's the advisors that need to understand that our department isn't to be confused as automotive. It was suggested to setup a pole to see what students think for us to see what is suggested. Bob approved and Chris seconded the approval.

Move classes from enhanced skills certificate to level 1 certs
Presenter
TJ Bragg
Minutes
Talked about how our AAS went from 72 hours to 60 hours. The reason for making up the Enhanced Skills Certificate was to make up the difference in hours. Problem with the certificate benefiting all students is that financial aid won't pay for those classes. To fix this issue we would move those classes into the two pre-existing certificates we already offer. We would move aluminum welding into the body certificate, move custom paint into the refinish certificate, and move the management class into both certificates. It was discussed how the management class benefits in both sides of the industry. We also explained why those courses aren't currently being funded and how they will be if attached to the other two certificates. We discussed the importance of the management class and everyone agreed it is vitally important. Joseph approved and Chris seconded the approval.

Need more adjuncts
Presenter

Minutes
Discussed putting interns with an estimator to give them a chance to experience the front of the house portion of the industry. Both shops agreed they could provide that experience if it was wanted as part of the internship. It was also suggested that the intern could check out parts as well. It was mentioned that I-CAR is more valuable then ASE for our industry so it should be taught to all students still.
