• Marlene and Yolanda have full release time to work on developing the curriculum for the program.
• We were going to Florida - Florida was the first site to develop this type of program but hurricane Irma delayed this trip
• We do plan to go to Oregon and…
• Marlene and Yolanda have been reviewing a variety of programs and guidelines that have to go into a BSN program
• Your input from Advisory Committee members is vital to us continuing in the develop of this program

Curriculum Activity - Think Tank
Nina Almasy
This is the think-tank and the reason you are here.
The Advisory Committee was given a List of Concept Topics for input
and ideas as to what should be included in the development of courses
taught in the Rn to BSN program here at Austin Community College.
Please see: Attachment 4 – List of Topics for Advisory Committee
10)
Practice Experiences
Nan Walters
We are looking a practice experience and direct experience
Direct - clinical placement. Community Health should be one and we are looking at another practice to include in Direct
Indirect - doing your budget
Gail Acuna - it is a benefit to have students work on these projects.
The objective is to see results
11)
Admission Requirements
Marlene Meador, Yolanda Hall
Marlene - ask for a lot of feedback from Advisory Committee
• GPA - Surveyed programs in Texas, most common is 2.5 - Pat states: some of our graduates who were FT single parents and went through program, are we going to not accept them in the program based on their previous GPA. Marlene: if they worked as a RN and had a break in service,, they will have to have worked as an RN for one year prior to enrolling in the program
• Time Limit on Pre-requisites - Talking with Financial aid - Financial Aid Must have a minimum of 6 hours per semester - full, they would need 12 hours, Pat - consensus, we are not going to have a time limit on our prerequisites,
• Pat - it is important to have student have completed pre-requisites prior to program so that there are no problems when applying to graduate
• Marlene: why is this important, courses that are more than 10 years old-knowledge has changed. Recommendation that courses are more than ten years old should do a student assessment. If you question industry standards, we should conduct a survey. Offer a provisional standard. Nina asked Marlene to research this topic more and bring back to the committee. We will get this information.
Pat - what about work experience do they have to work a certain time - Answer: NO
Once we take all of this information, we will send out to you in a proposal.
Ques to 4 year partner - are there things we need to think about in GPA
K Lautner - They would have to have GPA of 3,0 upon graduation
They can apply - for Master you have to have a 3.0
Student must maintain and grad with 3.0 GPA
