A. Faculty 1. New Hire Karen Jacobs retired at the end of the summer semester and Olaya Salinas was hired to start in the fall 2017 semester. She has experience working with pediatric populations; something that we were missing after Jana Israel retired. 2. Activities a) Faculty Fellows: Patty Collier completed the Faculty Fellows project on implementing active learning strategies in the classroom. Presented to PTA faculty and the program faculty have begun to implement these in the PTA courses. b) PTA MACS revisions: Patty Collier chairs a committee that is revising/updating the PTA MACS. The scale used by the CI to rate students will match language from the PT MACS and the language has been updated to match the new CAPTE Standards. B. Graduate Outcomes 1. Licensure Pass Rates In July 2017, 20 of 21 students took and passed the licensing exam. One student in this cohort took the test in January 2018 and also passed. In total, 21 of 21 passed giving us another year of a 100% first-attempt pass-rate. (10 years) 2. Graduation Rates • 2017 = 94% Has remained consistent 3. Employment Rates • 2016 = 94%; not all were full-time employment • 2017 survey goes out in May Advisory Committee asked about availability of jobs at their facilities. Some concern was brought up about change in reimbursement by PTA services for Medicare patients. Advisory Committee informed of salary ranges for various settings. C. Applicant Pool 1. Number Applied In 2017, there were 49 applicants and has remained consistent. Has gone up considerably from 4 years ago and has stayed consistent. 2. Number Accepted Twenty-two students accepted for the past three years. The program needs to decide whether to continue with 22 or go back to our established cohort size of 20 students. 3. Retention 2017: 4 students withdrew, 2 due to grades (fall 1) and 2 due to personal reasons (fall 1 and spring 1). Concerns remain about a few first-year students in the current spring semester. D. CAPTE On-site Visit 1. On-site Team Comments In January 2018, we had our on-site visit. The visit went well and the team had positive feedback about the assessment processes. 2. Commission Decision Timeline Two weeks after end of visit, we would have the visit report for institutional comments. Commission meets in July to make determination on our accreditation.

A. Program Enrollment (2B2) 1. Three-Year Data on Cohort Size Increase Program needs to determine whether to increase accepted cohort size to 22 or remain at 20 and report any substantive changes to CAPTE. Advisory committee was provided data on graduation rates, employment rate, and licensure pass rates comparing three years of 20 per cohort to 22 per cohort. Employment rates were unavailable for Class of 2018 and 2019. Data also provided on ranking position of students that withdrew from the program. Other factors to consider would be difficulty of securing clinical placements and employment rates. Clinical placements are difficult but the Class of 2017 graduated with 21 students and we were able to secure placements for all students. The new PT and PTA schools have affected availability. Faculty availability for 22 students is also difficult for one-on-one tutoring. Adjunct tutoring can also assist with tutoring however, many are in clinics and are unavailable during the day. Dean stated that college perspective is about increasing graduation rate and that the program is accessible to students. 2. Committee Feedback on Employment See II B 3 above for advisory committee comments. Advisory committee advised that employment can be anywhere in the country, not the Austin area. Data suggests that there are jobs although not all are full-time. There are 29 PTA schools in Texas. Advisory Committee asked for input. For the two most recent cohorts, the graduation rate has fallen from previous years to around 81%; down from around 90%. Each of these cohorts had 22 students. The ranking position was not predictive of academic withdrawal. The reason for the decreased graduation rate is unknown but could be due to lack of time by faculty to remediate students at-risk. The program currently does not log time by faculty for one-on-one tutoring. A suggestion was made to have group tutoring or have second-year students mentor. CAPTE graduation requirements are 60% averaged over two years. With all things considered, the Advisory Committee suggested that we continue with 22 students. • Action Item: Better tracking of students that withdraw: hours in tutoring and attendance in open labs. B. Classroom and Student Space (2B4) Adequate for the number of students. The first nine-weeks are difficult when 1409, first-year, and second-year students are on campus. C. Equipment and Technology (2B4) Adequate to teach contemporary physical therapy practice

A. General Education Requirements 1. Math The program degree plan does not specify a Math course. The majority of HS programs are using College Algebra. The program faculty have also considered Statistics for students that plan to use apply to the bridge program. Dean added that we could have College Algebra or Statistics. May include a footnote that advises students wanting to attend the bridge to take Statistics. Advisory Committee had no objections with identifying these two courses on the degree plan. 2. Speech The program degree plan does not specify a Speech course. The majority of HS programs are using Interpersonal Communication or the Introduction to Speech for Health Sciences. Advisory Committee had no objections with identifying these two courses on the degree plan. 3. Language, Philosophy, and Culture or Creative Arts The program degree plan does not specify a course for this requirement. The majority of HS programs are using the philosophy Ethics course. Advisory Committee had no objections with identifying this course on the degree plan. B. Contemporary Interventions 1. PTA MACS Required Interventions PTA MACS have been revised and are going through the final edits. We do not have a policy requiring which skills or the number of skills required to be successful in a clinical rotation, i.e., what is a must have and what is nice to have. Patty asked for committee feedback on which skills should be required. A concern of the faculty is that a prescriptive list may affect student graduation if a CI refuses to sign off on a skill. The list Patty provided the committee is acceptable but ACCE should still have the ability to make exceptions for unusual circumstances. The list provides consistency for all students while still allowing ACCE flexibility to make changes when necessary. • Action: A policy is required in the syllabi detailing the process. 2. 3-Man Lift Mechanical lifts are utilized more to protect therapists. Some facilities are still using a sheet for a as a modified three man lift. 3. Combo E-stim/US The consensus was that this is not used in contemporary equipment. 4. Whirlpool The consensus was that this is not used in contemporary equipment. 5. CPM While it is doctor specific, the consensus was that this is not a piece of equipment seen in contemporary practice.
