Presenter

Minutes
Definition of a Student: Definition of a student has been discussed at ASAC meeting, it has gone out for first read but there has not been any recent updates. Waiting to see if definition of a student will be on March ASAC meeting agenda. Committee will wait to see if there is a definition of a student by the end of the spring semester. Conduct in specialized spaces: Smaller meetings with different departments have been planned. Dorado recently met with the Student Life department and is looking to schedule a meeting with the Library department. These meetings give departments an opportunity to share concerns regarding conduct. A shared document will be made to gather all questions/information from those meetings. Once the document has sufficient information it will be shared with the SRR committee. Minors on Campus/ ECHS: Committee discussed the issue with unaccompanied minors on campus, gave examples of when parents (students) are taking a test and leaving their children unaccompanied. The committee also discussed how only the EGN campus is having onboarding orientations for incoming ECHS students. The committee can find the section of “Children on Campus” at https://catalog.austincc.edu/about-the-college/campus-safety-security/children-on-campus/ located in the 2019-2020 catalog. The committee suggested that onboarding orientations for incoming ECHS students be provided at all ACC locations. Orientations should outline expectations. Involuntary leave policy:The involuntary leave policy is in the process, we are unsure where exactly it is at this point. This policy will help those students who are needing to separate from the college for non-conduct related issues. The committee hopes that the policy will come down to them at some point. Dorado will keep the committee updated on this topic. Complaints guidelines and procedures: The committee reviewed the draft of complaints guidelines and procedures. They discussed Section C which stated freedom from retaliation. Questions regarding what actions are considered retaliation was brought up, the committee thought that those should be outlined. Committee members will receive a document where they are able to comment/suggest on edits. Once this information is gathered Dorado will share at the next ASAC meeting.
