Spring 2024 Registration Updates
Presenter
Linda Terry
Minutes
Members provided feedback and updates for Spring registration. There was an issue last week with students who were moved from one section into another because of an instructional issue. They were subsequently dropped for non-payment because the new section had additional first day access fees and students did not know to pay them. Otherwise, spring registration is going well. No suggestions or concerns from the group.

Review and Approval of FY25 Beginning of Registration and Payment Dates and Deadlines
Presenter
Linda Terry
Minutes
Linda provided the draft for review and approval to send to Dr. Kinney who will send it to the SA Executive team for approval to confirm the dates. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gNasaMgC4stO_1dpSfxvq4F6c6Z_3v6Tqv-cNg1KDyU/edit?usp=sharing This draft is for registration start dates and payment deadlines. Per Dr. Kinney we will keep with the same cadence as recent past years. A&E consulted with IT about our staggered registration approach and they recommend continuing with this approach. It helps IT with the system and load issues. Erica Ervin asked the question what does completed mean at ACC? Linda Terry answered they are completed hours at ACC not transfer hours.

College Affordability Initiative: Free Tuition
Presenter
Linda Terry
Minutes
Open for discussion here is the link, https://sites.austincc.edu/free-tuition/ At this time this website is not public facing yet. This is an initiative in progress and a lot of moving parts are still to be discussed and determined. Dr. Talisia McHugh asked if it would cover other fees like first-day fees, lab fees, etc. Linda Terry replied it would cover some fees but not all fees. The webpage provides this level of detail that says what's included and what's not included for answers. Program eligibility for August 2023 to August 2024 academic year graduating HS or GED. It is a 3-year eligibility program starting in the Fall of 2024 and ending Summer of 2027. Students who complete an associate degree and are subsequently accepted into an ACC bachelor's degree will be eligible for an additional 2 years of tuition payment at the same rate. Making a presentation to the board on 2/12/2024. The intention is to grow the program and hopefully with HB 8 Success Funding to not just HS graduates but everyone. The link should be public-facing on March 5, 2024, and fully operational after the ACC Board makes their final approval . Question, about sponsorship students. TBD for answer.

Year-Round Course Schedule
Presenter
Linda Terry
Minutes
Information item: This is new the Strategic Schedule Development committee consists of Gio Phan, Nancy Stano, and DeShaunta Stewart. The goal is to help students plan and schedule options for choosing courses and course sections for a year out. They plan on doing a presentation for the A&E Dept. One of the components is identifying course sections in self-service and marking them as 'shielded' which always makes at 65%. This lets students know that section will not get cancelled for low enrollment allowing students to plan for a year or more.

Round Table Discussion Application Team has no updates. There will be more coming about the Texas First HS Diploma. It is a distinguished-level HS program/diploma for students. Students who complete the program/diploma have access to scholarships for any public institution in Texas. Students who successfully complete this program will be considered TSI complete in all three skill areas. Fin Aid, FAFSA deadline has moved from April 1st to May 1st due to a new system rollout. The department is in communication with students, partners and scholarship foundation. Trying to figure out if they can backdate the scholarship awarded. Congress has gotten involved with the timelines to make sure to adhere to the deadlines. Academic Advising is trying to come up with a system to support students who are not assigned to an advisor. Proposing a hybrid walk-in model to serve these students. This is still in the planning stages. Adult Ed. courses are more popular than ever. Dr. Kinney has no updates. Orientation advisors are working to develop a virtual orientation program. The Welcome Center is working on creating a document to share with ACC about all the things the Welcome Center does and doesn't cover. College & HS Relations: Spring enrollment is up 6%. There is no longer a tuition waiver cap. Theresa Glenn: The data show about 60% of the students assisted by the Parent & Family engagement work are considering attending ACC. So this work has become more of a recruitment tool than initially thought. Looking to work with Mike Acosta about virtual orientation. Linda Terry: Linda is working with Dr. Jenna Cullinane Hege and Matt Figg on the proposed rulemaking for the recent legislation on pregnant and parenting students. Dr. Cullinane Hege is the lead point person on this. It's still a working progress.
