This cert would give them training in technical skills. Structured same as other Level 1 Certs, provides courses across both tracks in AAS degree instead of being contained in a specific track. Discussion on how this new certificate will stack into each of the Technical Theater AAS degrees - needs to be clarified to facilitate Financial Aid awarding. Members requested that stacking options be clarified on the proposed certificate by adding Advising Notes and to bring it back to the November Curriculum and Programs Committee meeting. Gaye Lynn: Yes - that’s the difference; the 15-hours of General Ed vs. the 42-hours of Core. All baccalaureate degrees will require the 42-hours of Core Curriculum courses. Discussion on Core footnotes, History course and note can be expanded or changed to American History; cleanup needed on numbering of footnote 4 for consistency. Ron will send Brandon the standard American History footnote wording Jorge: Concerned about Creative Arts Core section not specified in footnotes… Ron: Chemistry has already submitted a preliminary request for CHEM 1309/CHEM 1109 to be added to the Core Ron: checked and confirmed that PHYS 1410 is in the Core of more than five other institutions, so that allows it to count as Core. Motion to approve with changes to wording on History footnotes and course forms. Cathy Angell motioned to approve with edits; Alex Misthos seconded. Approved. Brandon will revise award plan with suggestions made by the Committee. Updates post meeting: The American History core area was used in lieu of the course recommendation of U.S History I. Note number 5 reflects the recommendation by Ron for the category. Each relevant note references a specific core curriculum category for clarity (i.e., 7. Or select from the Creative Arts section of the Core Curriculum Course List & 4. Or select from the Language, Philosophy, and Culture section of the Core Curriculum List.) We will include the necessary forms with a brief narrative in the THECB application packet highlighting the addition of the below courses to the core. Ron and/or David, would you send those once ready? PHYS Applied Physics CHEM 1309 General Chemistry for Engineering Majors & CHEM 1109 Lab Presented to BOT on 11/15/21; approved.
