Description
Updates: TSI Course Approved to add to TSI Course List
Presenter
Leilani Salinas
Minutes
Discussion: TSI - ASAC
• In November, ASAC approved 3 new courses to be added to the TSI-approved course list. Courses on this list can be used for TSI completion in the appropriate subject area(s).
HUMA-1301: Intro to Humanities listed in the list as the general title: Humanities: Prehistory to Renaissance
PSYC-2301: Intro. to Psychology
SOCI-1301: Intro. to Sociology
• ASAC has asked AAC to review the use of the core curriculum (with appropriate prerequisites) to replace the TSI-approved list. They would like for us to submit a recommendation, with our reasoning and data; preferably during this academic year.
For consideration: During the November 2021 ASAC meeting, Dr. Matthew Daude Laurents presented a recommendation to use the courses on the Core Curriculum to determine TSI readiness in place of the more condensed current TSI approved course List. As a result, Mike Midgley requested that the AAC provide additional information and data to ASAC to support this recommendation.

Recommended action items with feedback due to AAC via email by March 8th: 1). listen to ASAC recording, read minutes to gain more context of the conversation; 2). compare TSI-approved course list with Core Curriculum; 3). what data is needed to help with this discussion? 4). Should we request a presentation from Dr. Matthew Daude Laurents to get the additional information and request data he may have? 5). discuss via email before meeting and establish additional recommendations before the next AAC meeting scheduled for March 25th.
