1)
Welcome and Updates
Liz

Liz: Thank you all for coming and taking time out of your busy schedules to be here. We truly appreciate you and value your input. We don’t have a lot to go over today, but we just wanted to bring you up to speed on where we are at.  We do not have any voting items today, but I did want to share a slideshow with you all.  I would also love to hear what you all are needing from us. I am hoping to keep it on time for you all.

You have a packet that will explain what we are currently looking like.  The snapshot shows the number of students. We are slowly building back up to our pre pandemic numbers.  We have been attending career fairs trying to gain more traction. As you can see we are doing a decent job of getting students to complete their degrees.

We did present the changes to the Curriculum Committee that we discussed last meeting and those have been implemented. We really think that these changes are going to make a big difference for the students and provide them a better path.

This year is the first year that we have our PTech students from Travis on campus and mixed into class with our students. We have run into a few challenges, but are working with the Travis team to implement changes moving forward so that they have a better understanding of the expectations, course load and participation/completion of work. Next year we will have 2 cohorts from Travis taking classes on campus and look forward to having them on campus.

Joe: We are still hosting the Travis students and are very excited to have them get a glimpse into the workforce. We really hope that more of their students take advantage and get involved.

Liz: ACC is moving to an annual schedule so Nichole and I have been working on getting the schedule for the 24-25 school year down.  ACC wants to provide students with access to see a year out what their schedule can look like so that they can plan around work schedules, childcare, etc. Now I would like to share a slideshow with you all on our programs.

Liz: Finally, I just want to hear from you.  What are you looking for from students coming out of our programs? What skill sets are you looking for from a student right out of school?

Cindy: I think I say this every time, just focusing on soft skills, tech/computer skills and budgeting. We are still seeing a lot of interviewees that just don’t seem to know the basics of a spreadsheet. Then with the newest generation hitting the workforce it seems like there is a lack of basic soft skills and knowing when things are appropriate.

to know the basics of a spreadsheet.  Then just proper etiquette like when to use a cell phone.

Liz:We are still running into issues with cell phone usage here.  I make rules about cellphone usage in the classroom. We also have a one-hour business professionalism course that we encourage students to take.  It covers a lot of the soft skills.  We do go over budgeting and spreadsheets in Finance, but maybe we can adjust the schedule to spend a bit more time on this matter.

Cindy: That sounds great.

Liz: Anyone else?

Jenn and Joe: Both commented that they are seeing a decline in soft skills across the board.

Liz: As a reminder, I would be happy to come on site and talk to managers, supervisors and employees about our programs and the different degrees and certificates that we offer. I know that we used to come out on benefit days and have tables, so please let us know if you are interested.  We truly appreciate all you do for our programs and students. Thank you all for your time today.
