Meeting & Agendas
The committee reviewed meeting minutes from February 13, 2026. There were no corrections, and the minutes were approved.
EmilySchneider provided an update on the Academic Integrity & Disciplinary Process draft. The Readline draft document was shared with the committee. The draft was previously presented to ASCA; additional review time was requested. No new feedback has been received since that presentation. The committee revised language in the draft (line 83) related to student communication via ACC email. There was a discussion about whether the students should also be contacted through their personal email if the ACC email has not been activated. Concerns were raised about FERPA compliance when using non-ACC email accounts. There was a general agreement that an ACC-issued email is the best option for official communication.
Antonio Ramirez presented concerns regarding the current academic appeals process and introduced the idea of developing a standing appeal panel model for AY27. He gave an example of a recent academic appeal that took approximately four months to resolve. Some of the challenges identified included difficulty coordinating panel members' and students' schedules and the increasing volume of academic appeals, including AI-related cases. The committee discussed ideas to improve efficiency and consistency within the academic appeals process. The goal of this effort is to streamline workflows and ensure consistent messaging across departments. Lastly, Antonio raised a question about whether developing a standing panel model and related procedures would require formal approval. It was noted that clarification is needed through the appropriate governance channels.
The attendees were thanked for their participation, and the meeting was adjourned.
