Compliance Video For College: Student Accessibility
Presenter
Emily Perhamus
Minutes

Emily introduces a project that all CAC members will contribute to: Compliance Video For College On Student Accessibility. Discussion was held around this topic

  • Michelle expresses the desire to ensure that the message is student centered
  • Kristie had a colleague at UT who introduced a very hands on approach to training and educating on accessibility (showing it is like to face certain accessibility barriers)
    • Any training given should show that there are a vast variety of disabilities. And it must be centered on students and education
  • Sean has been developing a promotional initiative around “Accessibility Begins With Me”. Sean will plan on bringing this proposal to the group in the new year
  • Common issue: Students are not introducing themselves to professors. The current process of accommodation letters is hands-off to faculty
    • This would be better if students were being trained/directed to be involved with and communicate with their professors
