Discussion/Recommendation Items
Presenter
Minutes
Retention: -22 students for Fall -14 currently -68% retention rate -not all academic, but students with personal problems or discovering they were not suited to PTA - continue to use CSI from Noel Levitz - 1409 Grade Weight -add a forced writing component to course -continue with data collection; finish looking at GPA of pre and corequisite courses -what about bonus points: are they predicting? -mediate after unit 1 in PTHA 1513; students failing after first exam are predictors of course failure -weight of work skills too high? Maybe grade the essay only to see if they can link concepts. Use English dept. and their rubrics? -find the old tests and see if it can be determined what type of questions are being missed; memorization vs. critical thinking Admission Criteria: 1. Essay: time intensive for grading, can we get assistance in grading? 2. Make an adjustment to GPA after review 3. Change bonus system: add weight to 1409 and take away from other pre-requisites. 4. Look at volunteer hours summaries: change cover letter to make sure they know it is weighted
