State of the Program
Presenter
Rudy Garza
Minutes
We will be graduating 30 students in August. The 2nd year students are doing well. They are studying their interventional and cardiovascular courses. As far as clinical assignments, we are using all of the ARA facilities that are open, Seton, Brackenridge, St. David\'s NAMC, South Austin, RRMC, Central Texas Medical Center and Georgetown. Next week final semester students will be in final competencies in free standing evaluations. Final competencies will be next week, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If they aren\'t successful the first time, they have 1 other opportunity to get it right. Since they have implemented this system, they have only lost 1 person. We have a total of 42 first year students. Four students dropped out, but there were 4 students who came back so we still have 42 students. In answer to the question of how we handle transfer students, Mr. Garza said it is done on a space available basis. The clinical reports we have been receiving on the students are good to date, nothing negative.

Program Accreditation Process
Presenter
Rudy Garza
Minutes
Last summer we received a letter from the accrediting agency telling us to complete a comprehensive self study on our program. There are 9 standards, but there are 3 that are critical, i.e., #1, #7, #8. We suggested that the site visit take place the second half of June or in September. The accrediting agency will let us know when they can come. Rudy Garza gave a short synopsis of what we can expect from the site inspectors. There will probably be 2 people and they will meet with the Dean and any other officials first as a courtesy to the college. The inspectors will eventually want to talk to the department managers, faculty, students, staff and graduates who are employed with them. They will be looking to see if everything the individuals tell them is pretty much the same. After they have finished meeting with everyone, they will sit down and write their report.
5)
Description
Current Events in Clinical Education
Presenter
Minutes
The new clinical sites are coming online - Seton Northwest and Seton Southwest. The new Williamson County facility will have 150 beds. We have the new Children\'s Hospital, Williamson County Hospital, Bastrop Hospital and Triad Hospital in Cedar Park. Scott and White is discussing becoming a new site for our students. D.D. Stiles said they are trying to get a hospital in Marble Falls. There has been a problem keeping up with all the changes in clinical instructors, but everything should be accurate as listed now. If a student needs to repeat an unsatisfactory image, a supervisor must be there. Portables are another issue. Everyone must make sure students are accompanied by qualified staff.
