Dr. Eileen Klein stated that Cedar Park Regional Medical Center would review clinical affiliation for approval based on the individual program cluster, not in totality. Joe Lopez informed of a freestanding St. David’s ER Clinic opening in Bee Caves.

Paul Dubiel suggested that we continue to function with our present strategy and advancement toward meeting program goals. Mary Wagner suggested a reminder to be sent to all departments that students should continue to be supervised. Meeting adjourned at 1:15 PM and Rudy Garza offered a tour of the facilities.

The minutes from the meeting held April 24, 2009, were briefly reviewed. Joe Lopez moved to approve. Les Handlin seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Description
Status of Program- Revised Curriculum Converting to Hybrid Courses

Hybrid consists of class lectures and a choice of the following: 1) audio lecture access, or 2) printed transcript of instructor lectures. Instructor uses Captivate Computer Program that converts voice to print. Accessible 24/7. Summer 2011 there will be two (2) hybrid courses. Current class will finish with traditional format. Interim Report will be online and Rudy Garza will send link to attendees.

Status of Program- Students Currently in the Program

Approximation of 47 students after withdrawal of one at RRC and three at EVC. Most enrollees at RRC are from Round Rock and Georgetown. Primary reason for withdrawals: external work schedules. Anthony Blankenship and Erica Manke confirmed/supported the explanation of commitment required to the program that is relayed during the Information Sessions. Paul Dubiel suggested a “buddy system” so established students can help 1st year students understand intensity of program. Early intervention and counseling available on both campuses to assist students.

Status of Program- Program Facilities/ Equipment Update at EVC and RRC

EVC equipment is resilient despite aging. MDI is dispatched frequently to repair. Collimator will require complete replacement or must be rebuilt into the location. RRC facility has experienced voltage surges on new equipment. Circuit board has required repair. Not anticipated to be ongoing issue.

Status of Program- Applications and Admissions

There were approximately 400 applicants. One-half (1/2) of selected candidates declined acceptance into the program. Alternates were called through the 90th person. End of March 2011, students will be informed of acceptance/rejection. Approximately 100 applications received to date for next admission. Dr. Eileen Klein stated that criminal background checks (CBC) should take no more than 2 months; discussed issues posted on website that will result in a positive. Stated that “true barriers are declined.”

Interim Report- Radiography Status Report on Accreditation Standards

Sample of goals sent to accreditation agency to fulfill their request to know if program is fair and equitable. ACC website contains plethora of information available to the public. Mary Wagner presented inquiries from students regarding aggressive and/or difficult patients and colleagues along with their concern for handling patients with confirmed diseases. She discusses appropriate methodologies and professionalism with the students. Rudy Garza suggested video presentation or member classroom visitation to address response to such situations. Les Handlin stated he has an informative video and will forward it to Rudy Garza. Tina Leger also has access to similar material and will send to Rudy Garza. Joe Lopez suggested that students attend his employer’s customer service classes. Three years of assessments will be posted online. Twenty-seven graduates from most recent class; 17 are employed, status of others is unknown, many are moving out of state for jobs. Credentialing exam: 91% pass rate.

Anthony Blankenship suggested adding patient care material; not sure how to establish or measure it. Dr. Eileen Klein and M.D. Marcus Lines elaborated on TJC (formerly JCAHO) regulations. Subsequent statements: Eileen Klein- “social media policy will be added.” Rudy Garza- “there is an increase in CT curriculum and forensic radiology in the profession.” Tina Leger and Mary Wagner- “instruction on cell phone usage/photography is in every syllabus. “
