Ron Johns and Cathy Angell discussed the recommendation from General Education Core Committee to add SPAN 2313 and SPAN 2315 to the Humanities and Fine Arts section of the General Education Course List and to the Visual and Performing Arts section of the Core Curriculum. SPAN 2313 Spanish III for Spanish Speakers SPAN 2314 Spanish IV for Spanish Speakers Linda Smarzik moved to accept addition of SPAN 2313 and SPAN 2314 to the Humanities and Fine Arts section of the General Education List and to the Visual and Performing Arts section of the Core Curriculum. Second by Carol Hawk. Approved.

1. Gaye Lynn discussed the need to revise existing ACC INSS.002 Program Revision/New Program Approval form. Changes proposed provide additional information needed to response to SACS forms. A new Program Award Expiration Form was presented which will be used to help document program closures to SACS. Two additional questions were added to the Program Revision/New Program Approval form. 5. At what campuses and teaching locations will program be initially ordered? 6. What teaching formats are being planned? Gina Swearingen moved to accept the forms with proposed changes; second by Jorge Lynch. Approved. 2. Ad Hoc Committee Recommendation on Course Capacities. Gaye Lynn reviewed the five recommendations of Ad Hoc Committee. Further discussion at future Curriculum and Programs Committee meetings will lead to recommendations for ACAC. Curriculum and Programs Committee recommended that new courses be presented to the committee with a master syllabus. 3. Minutes - November 16, 2012. Approved.

Linda discussed aligning course name and description with the Workforce Education Course Manaul and adding a prerequisite. Modify ITSE 1411 Beginning Web Programming (4-3-3) - Align course title with WECM standard name for course. ITSE 1411 was originally based on HTML2 and CSS1. However, the complexity of the course material has markedly increased with the advent of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript. Prerequisite of ITSE 1401 or departmental approval was added. Gina Swearingen move to accept ITSE 1411 changes; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved.

G.W. and Gary Hampton discussed the Transportation Security Administration grant which flows through Lone Star College and pays tuition, fees, and textbooks for training current TSA personnel. ACC proposed adding courses to the inventory. Add HMSY 1337 Introduction to Homeland Security (3-3-0) HMSY 1340 Homeland Security Intelligence Operations (3-3-0) HMSY 1391 Special Topics in Homeland Security: Transportation Security (3-3-0) G.W. continued with changes needed to existing courses for the purpose of strengthening ACC\'s Discipline Assessment Cycle (DAC) program. Modify CRIJ 2313 Correctional Systems and Practices (3-3-0) – Prerequisite change to CRIJ 1301, CRIJ 1306, CRIJ 1310, CRIJ 1313. Prior completion or concurrent enrollment in CJCR 1304 and CRIJ 2301. Students must complete the introductory criminal justice courses to be prepared for the material presented in the course and be successful on the Capstone exam. CRIJ 2328 Police Systems and Practices (3-3-0) – Prerequisite change to CRIJ 1301, CRIJ 1306, CRIJ 1310, CRIJ 1313. Prior completion or concurrent enrollment in CRIJ 2314 and CRIJ 2323. Students must complete the introductory criminal justice courses to be prepared for the material presented in the course and be successful on the Capstone exam. Liz returned to committee with a set of Advisory Committee letters in support of the request to reduce course capacities. Modify – In Oct, HUSE Advisory Board requested all skill courses be limited to 22 students to allow for workplace competency development. DAAC 2306 Substance Abuse Prevention I (3-3-1) – Reduce course capacity from 36 to 22. The HUSE Advisory Board has requested all skill-based courses have enrollments limited to 22 to allow more experiential activities and competency-based evaluation. This course has a lab where students work in the profession applying course material. DAAC 2307 Addicted Family Intervention (3-3-0) – Reduce course capacity from 32 to 22. HUSE Advisory Board has recommended a class limit of 22 on all skill based classes to allow for better development of competency. This is a skill-intensive course and students address personal family issues in the development of a genogram. DAAC 2353 Substance Abuse Prevention II (3-3-1) – Reduce course capacity from 30 to 22. The HUSE Advisory Board has requested all skill-based courses have enrollment limited to 22 to allow for more experiential activities and development of work-place competencies. This course also requires field work where students apply course materials RECT 1341 Therapeutic Recreation Leadership I (3-3-0) – Reduce course capacity from 32 to 22. The HUSE Advisory board recommends all skill based classes have a limit of 22 students to allow for development of work-place skills. This course also has required field work for students to practice skills. RECT 1342 Therapeutic Recreation Leadership II (3-3-0) – Reduce course capacity from 32 to 22. The HUSE Advisory board recommends a class limit of 22 on all skill based classes to allow better work place skill development. This course also has required field work for students to practice skills learned in class. RECT 2431 Therapeutic Recreation Program Planning (4-3-1) – Reduce course capacity from 32 to 22. The HUSE advisory board recommends class limits of 22 for all skill based classes to allow for better workforce preparation. This course also has a field placement that requires students to practice their skills. SCWK 2305 Special Problems of Youth (3-3-0) – Reduce course capacity from 36 to 22. HUSE Advisory board recommends a class limit of 22 in skill based courses to allow students to develop competency. This course has a clinical focus requiring students to master techniques of working with this population.
