Description
Status report on veterinary technology at ACC.

The proposed 72 credit hour curriculum for Veterinary Technology Associate of Applied Science degree was reviewed and discussed. The first semester courses are prerequisites and a student will need to complete the courses before admission to the program. The actual degree course work begins in semester two. The first VTHT pre-req will be offered for Summer 2013 at Eastview Campus. The Vet program will share labs with Biology at the new Elgin campus.
Development of the student application, student handbook, and program web site will begin immediately.

Veterinary Technology Program Director and staff.

The Program Director job description will be sent to ACC Human Resources with a request to post in local and national publications. The position will require a DVM degree. A Coordinator position will also be posted.
Other hiring positions:
Administrative support and hourly support.
Second full-time faculty member (second year).

Program curriculum approval.

The proposed program curriculum was approved.
Program implementation timeline:
April 17 – program is reviewed for possible approval at ACC’s Curriculum and Programs Committee meeting.
May 1 – ACC Board of Trustees reviews program proposal and possibly approves.
Program proposal goes to THECB for approval.
Implementation.

Follow-up.

The program curriculum will be added in the college’s Course Management System and go to the Curriculum and Programs Committee for approval.
A web site will be created.
A Google Group of advisory members will be created. Program Coordinator job description, student application, and timeline of activities will be shared with the group.
