Review of Current ACC Workforce Certificate Programs and overlap with Associate’s Degree, including program growth and cross-departmental interdisciplinary collaborations. Discussed program outreach and newer programs such as the RTF Study Abroad Program in Germany. Jim Butler talked about the importance of workforce programs to the economy of Austin. JJ Weber noted how ACC-RTF was the only “game in town” when it comes to specific TV production classes.

Information on progress of new equipment and upgrades to the studio and labs, including microphones, tripods and editing software. New cameras planned for purchase for Film-Style Production classes, based on previous recommendations. Additional discussion and support in regards to potential collaborations with photography department.

After presentation and overview of potential cross-curricular integrated Creative Media Cluster at Highland, discussion about the perceived value of having industry and education working together in a unified space with Creative and Technological sectors, to include, internships, apprenticeships, job placement programs and business incubation.

New Degree Plan Update

After laying out updates to the new degree plan focused around Converging Media Production, several members (JJ Webber, Jonny Stranger and Natalie Glover), voiced immediate support for the After Effects class which would make students immediately more employable, they felt. Discussion followed around importance of skills being taught in various new classes, giving students added depth of skills training from a convergence standpoint. All members voted in support.
