The opening of the Elgin campus was a really great event. Every area of the college was represented at the fair in early June. We have 333 students already attending. Our growth in Elgin is up 6%. We will have another campaign to remind the community about spring registration. Hays will be opening for the spring semester in January, but a date has not been set. People are very excited about their new campuses. Highland will open next fall 2014. We are not going for a bond this year. It will be pushed to fall of 2014. We are going to need help from everyone to market Highland. The list of participants for the 40th anniversary event is huge. It is open to all our staff and students but also to the community. Please check out the planned program at www.austincc.edu/40th. Invitations to the alumni went out, and we hope to have many of the original students attending. Linda Haywood – Students are really quiet at CYP. Students are attached to their devices. It is interesting what is happening to the newer generations. We need to change the way we reach out to them. All we can do is to reinforce the common message hopefully to be positive. Our new website is being redesigned to make it accessible from any device and anywhere

Enrollment Update

As of this morning enrollment is down 4.4%. Better employment opportunities impact enrollment and meningitis vaccination requirements do as well. We have many challenges to include the private schools, four year institutions and other states. Hispanics are the fastest growing population in our area. We have done well reaching this population but we lost our outreach person. Distance learning, our largest campus, is down for the first time, and we need to figure out what is going on. The new colleges in Hutto are another fact affecting our enrollment. We are giving in district tuition to our students in the Pace program with UT and Texas State. These institutions will be doing the same with our students attending their schools. Recruiters will be at five selected in-district high schools for 8 hours a month to help college connections students with the enrollment process. We will be supplying info cards to display our programs at the high schools. For the second ACC one-on-one we did not use advisors because it is high peak for them. The goal is to return the call to each student within 24 hours with the information requested. We had 1,200 phone calls in two weeks. It took the entire enrollment team to take care of all the calls. Admission applications go up when unemployment is up. We will be able to track down exactly how this happens, and we will be able to follow through with these students. Much energy has been spent on PR. Now we are going to ease off and focus on supporting completion and student retention. We need ideas from the instructional side of the college to guide our marketing goals. Enrollment has been down during the last years, but we are up 3.5% from last year.
