Members will review D4 policies and procedures and bring back suggestions to the July meeting. Decision/Actions: Sub-committee was created to review current procedures, propose revisions or new procedures to address new TSI changes, update advising manual and TSI Quick reference guide to reflect changes. Sub-committee will provide an update in July

Committee approved the following rules with change: 4.04.002 Assessment of Basic Skills: Fulfillment of TSI- Add “the college ready score at anytime” since state law says that a student may retest at anytime. Delete 3rd paragraph under Administrative Rule as it is a repeat of the previous paragraph. Delete 5th paragraph as the statement does not belong in the rule Add “Obtain departmental approval of college readiness” since the department can determine a student to be college ready because it’s a new criteria per state requirements. 4.04.003 Placement of Students in Developmental Education- Under Administrative Rule the following was approved: Add “waived” was added to sentence because of state guidelines. Delete “administrative rules or the statute and” Part of the 1st paragraph was deleted as it is not needed. Delete “mandatory” because state-law allows for differentiated measures Delete 2nd paragraph because statement is incorrect Delete 3rd paragraph as it does not belong in this rule 4.04.007 Developmental Education: State Exemptions and Exceptions to Overall TSI Requirements- No change. 4.04.009 Assessment of Basic Skills: First Semester Course Enrollment Without TSI Testing Exceptional Circumstances Provision- Delete rule as ACC does not practice this. Students are provided accommodations. 4.04.011 Developmental Education: Enrollment of Developmental Education Students in Non-Developmental Courses- Delete rules as this is addressed in 4.04.004 and other rules. 4.04.014 Developmental Education: Monitoring Student Participation in Mandatory Developmental Education Requirements- Under Administrative Rule delete the last sentence of the 1st paragraph as statement does not apply to this rule. 4.04.017 Role of Advisors and Counselors with Students in Developmental Education Subject was revised to read “Role of Advisors and Counselors in Support of Developmental Education” Under Administrative Rule “will refer students to campus and/or community support services/resources and” to address state law requirement. Decision/Actions: Committee approved all changes and Yolanda will present rules at the next Student Services Council in June.
