General Studies – Foreign Language Discussion (Ron Johns/Gaye Lynn Scott/Tomi Welch). Ron discussed the 8-10 hour foreign language requirement in ACC\'s General Studies AS award. Tomi advised students can take a challenge exam under CE at UTA. Question: Is there a statutory mandate on foreign language requirements? Item will return to October 2013 meeting for further discussion.

S.B. 497 – Semester Credit Hours Required for Associate Degree (Mike Midgley). Mike advised that THECB has not provided implementation guidance on 60-hour requirement which becomes effective in fall 2015. ACC will take no action until we know how to implement. Departments advised to take no action until ACC\'s institutional response is developed.

Revise Accounting Technician AAS – move ACNT 2371 to semester IV, move ECON 2302 to semester II; replacing POFI 1371 Access with POFI 2350 Databases: Access Jonathan Buckstead moved to accept Accounting Technician AAS courses movement. Second by Robert Bermea. Approved. Brian will return to a future meeting with request to revise ACNT 2371 course description.

Modify HPRS 2300 Pharmacology for Health Professions (3-3-0) – The change or removal of the pre-requisite associated with having TSI exempt students to take the compass math assessment is due to coming in compliance with the new TSI requirement and the expiration of the compass assessment at ACC. With course approvals in place, the Molecular Diagnostics Enhanced Skills Certificate was revised to incorporate the course changes. Add MLAB 2337 Molecular Diagnostic Techniques (3-2-4) Modify MLAB 2434 Microbiology - Changed lecture/lab contact hours from 4-3-4 to 4-2-6 to reflect an increase in laboratory hours needed. Expire MLAB 2437 Molecular Diagnostic Techniques (4-3-4) Revise Molecular Diagnostics Enhanced Skills Certificate – drop MLAB 2437, add MLAB 2337 Jonathan Buckstead moved to accept new course MLAB 2337 and MLAB 2434 revised hours.
