Bridge Program
Mary gave an update on the bridge program. The classes are filling and students are doing well in the classes that are ongoing.

ACC received a grant for Achieving the Dream. The project will be called Student Success Initiatives. The goal is to improve the success of DVM courses and achieve success in gateway courses. All students will be successful. Last year 7.6% of students did not graduate or transfer. It is higher this year.
Some of the suggestions as to how we can help students more up front are: using the internet for orientation, eliminating late registration, and having an entrance orientation.
The Achieve Program uses software for the students, staff and counselors. They are supported and followed electronically. Counselors will be responsible for at least five student contacts.
On the grant from TGSL there will be more faculty involvement in orientation.
Soon Merz announces there is a pilot program going on now in the English Department to determine ethnicity, delivery, and completion. Soon says it is in development and the faculty will find it useful. OIEA is trying to get a starting point from the pilot program.
Hazel Ward said the pilot program was interesting considering the English Department had not been notified and she was unaware of the study.

Loretta Edelen reminded that the Girl’s Institute is being held at EVC July 13 – 17. The Women’s Conference is on July 18 at EVC. Then the Jump Start program for high school and incoming ACC Foster Care Alumni students will be held on July 28, 29 & 30 at EVC.
