Discussion – PowerPoint from CRLA/CASP Conference

Committee reviewed the power point provided by Caryn and discussed key issues regarding the content of the Writing portion of Accuplacer and how the state is moving towards assigning students place in basic courses to ABE. This will become an issue since ABE is federally funded. The Coordinating Board was unclear on several of the TSI changes.

Committee members discussed the new TSI requirements pertaining to Test Prep. Determined that new procedures will need to be developed. Developmental Task forces will need to make decisions on when students should be able to retest.
Test-Prep – Susan Thomason, Director of Instructional Development Services is coordinating the development of the test prep module(s).
Decision/Actions: Committee members to work with their taskforces to work on a recommendation for when students should retest.

Important Deadlines for 2013:
1) New State Test will be released August 1, 2013
2) Release of new cut scores will be delayed until May 2013
3) New procedures and Accuplacer training for staff and faculty is scheduled between late May and June.
