Discuss
Presenter
Mr. Bill Morrison, Mr. Paul Elkins, Dr. Quinones and members
Minutes
• Renewable Energy AAS and certificate Mr. Morrison discussed his proposal to change and remove some of the courses from the renewable energy degree-proposal attached-. Members discussed several ideas and thought that the recommended changes make sense as long as they are practical applications taught in class. Others mentioned that OSHA10 was the lowest level and OSHA40 was the advanced. Some felt that principles of marketing and finance were going to be very useful to this degree plan. The basic introduction to drafting was useful; however, smart grid was too general. • Power Technology AAS and certificate • Lineworker Technology AAS and certificate Dr. Quiñonez suggested to the committee that it would be good to collapse the lineworker and power degrees into one and we would leave the Lineworker Marketable Certificate. If a student wants to advance, then it could take the new combined Power Technology degree. Mr. Elkins spoke about the expansion of the training facility from 7 poles to 13 poles and Dr. Quinones mentioned that the list of equipment in the packet is in there in case some would like to donate any of the items from the list. Dr. Quinones suggested it takes some thought and process to vote on these changes. Dr. Quinones suggested that it in the other committee members vote by e-mail and it has been working well. We may use the same system and send you e-mails.
