Course Capacity Review – Comments. Gaye Lynn lead discussion of course capacity review, distributed the 1/22/13 Draft Setting or Revising Course Caps--Recommendations for Curriculum & Programs, and Administrative Rule 3.03.012 Course Schedule Development and Assignment of Classrooms. Committee voiced opinions that \'\'there is no body of data research\'\' available on which to make decisions; the need for departments to provide written justifications for course capacity change requests; setting course capacities based upon pedagogy of what is ideal for the course; setting standards based upon course type; and what the role of the Curriculum and Programs Committee should be. Recommendations 1 and 4 were supported by committee. Ron Johns moved that a subcommittee be established to review recommendations and return to Curriculum and Programs Committee for further discussion; second by Linda Smarzik. Approved. Missi Patterson, Ron Johns, Linda Smarzik, and Marie Fofi volunteered to serve on the subcommittee. Subcommittee will return to January 25, 2014 meeting. Minutes – October 18, 2013. Approved.

Revise Awards Fire Protection Technology AAS Missi Patterson moved acceptance of the Fire Protection Technology AAS revision to add FIRT 1342 and FIRT 1343, and to replace the Unrestricted Elective with Fire Elective; second by Ron Johns. Approved.

Approved. Alberto continued with request to revise Automation, Robotics and Controls AAS and Certificate. Revise Awards Automation, Robotics and Controls Specialization AAS – removing RBTC-1405 Automation, Robotics and Controls Specialization Certificate – removing RBTC-140, add RBTC 2445 Missi Patterson moved to accept Automation award changes; second by Cathy Angell. James explained current ENGR courses underserve ACC\'s electrical students and proposed adding ENGR 2405, modifying ENGR 2332 to add a lab hour, and revising the Engineering AS to incorporate ENGR 2405. Add ENGR 2405 Electrical Circuits I (4-3-4) Modify ENGR 2332 Mechanics of Materials (3-3-0) – revising course hours from 3-3-0 to 3-3-1 (adding 1 lab hour) Revise Award Engineering AS – incorporate ENGR 2405 in footnote Cathy Angell moved to accept the Engineering proposal; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved.

Linnea discussed modifying Biotechnology awards to provide building blocks for students leading from certificates through the ATC. A new Level I Biotechnology Certificate was presented; course modifications were requested for the ATC, AAS, and Certificate Level II. Add Biotechnology Certificate (Level 1) – 32 Hours Revise Awards Biotechnology ATC Biotechnology AAS Biotechnology Level II Certificate Linda Smarzik moved to accept the changes to the Biotechnology Advanced Technical Certificate; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved. Linnea agreed to return to a future meeting with Biotechnology Level I Certificate; Biotechnology Level II Certificate, and Biotechnology AAS with re-sequenced courses to provide for students requiring pre-requisites.

Revise DEVR-0330 Advanced College Reading becomes Integrated College Reading and Writing Strategies (3-3-1) – adding 1 lab hour, $50 course fee, revising course description and title. Jonathan Buckstead moved to accept DEVR 0330 changes to title, description, and hours and fees; second by Linda Smarzik. Approved.

Becky discussed the need to align EMSP with the 2009 National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards and requested a change to EMSP 1501 course title. In addition, Becky presented award changes for 4 awards. Modify EMSP 1501 Emergency Medical Technician –Basic (5-3-6) – title becomes Emergency Medical Technician; course description change Revise Awards Emergency Medical Services AAS - modified catalog introductory statement. EMT Paramedic Certificate becomes EMT Paramedic Level II Certificate and modifies introductory statement EMT Intermediate Certificate becomes Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Level 1 Certificate and modifies introductory statement Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Institution Certificate becomes Emergency Medical Technician Institutional Certificate and replaces EMSP 1501 course title and modifies catalog introductory statements. Shirin Khosropour moved to accept the entire Emergency Medical Services Professions proposal; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved.
