Advanced Skills Certificate. Texas Tech is considering an Affiliation Agreement with San Antonio College (SAC). It was suggested that ACC contact SAC and work together towards an Advanced Skills Certificate. Focus should be on the 1,300 Level I interpreters in Texas.

Discussed the problem of finding Instructors. Visiting professors, video conferencing and mentoring were offered as options. It was also suggested that short classes would be better than semester long classes and that employers will need to provide incentives to take classes. It was suggested that we get input from Jennifer Howell at TEA as to what they are doing for training.

Deaf/Blind Training

A Deaf Blind training workshop will be held November 19th and 20th. There is a need for course content in Deaf-Blind interpreting; ACC will work together with Billy C. and the Deaf-Blind program within DARS.
