Jack presented Biotechnology proposal to add a new Biotechnology Level I Certificate and revise Biotechnology AAS, ATC, and Level II Certificate. The new certificate is created as an exit point for Biotechnology students and in response to industry request. Add NEW Biotechnology Level One Certificate (32 SCH) Revise Biotechnology AAS Biotechnology Level II Certificate Biotechnology Advanced Technical Certificate Committee requested this item be returned to November 15, 2013 meeting with both current and proposed award plans, an approved INSS.002 form, and advisory committee minutes reflecting votes on the proposals.

Jamee and Tracy presented proposal to return KINE 1140 and KINE 1119 to the ACC Course Inventory. These courses were previously expired due to lack of facilities. Courses will have separate site fees attached to each section depending upon offering location. Add KINE 1140 Softball I (1-1-2) KINE 1119 Flag Football (1-1-2) Gina Swearingen moved to accept KINE 1140 and KINE 1119; second by Michelle Fitzpatrick. Approved. Jamee continued with request to revise course capacities citing safety issues. Committee discussed physical space issues related to Aerobics and Yoga classes and time issues for the golf classes offered on public courses. Modify KINE 1101 Aerobics I – cap change 36 to 30; modified course description to add Zumba KINE 2101 Aerobics II – cap change 36 to 30 KINE 1120 Golf I – cap change 25 to 20 KINE 2111 Golf II – cap change 25 to 20 KINE 1146 Yoga I – cap change 36 to 30 KINE 2123 Yoga II – cap change 36 to 30 Missi Patterson moved to approve course cap changes; second by Michelle Fitzpatrick. In previous CurrComm meeting, members were invited to review/comment on process for making course capacity changes with the intent of establishing clear guidelines. This item will be placed on November 15, 2013 Curriculum and Programs Committee agenda for additional discussion.

Michelle explained the request for an additional internship course for students participating in the 12 SCH Disney internship opportunity. Add HAMG 2388 Internship – Hospitality Administration/Management, General (3-0-12) Cathy Angell moved to accept HAMG 2388; second by Robert Bermea. Approved. HAMG 1321 TSI skills codes were revised to remove the special approval. Michelle indicates this has sparked interest in the program. Modify HAMG 1321 Introduction to the Hospitality Industry (3-3-0) – change skills code from ‘I’ Reading, Writing, and Special Approval to ‘E’ Reading and Writing. Modified course description to remove ‘Departmental approval required.’ Missi Patterson moved to accept HAMG 1321 TSI skills changes; second by Robert. Approved. Award plan changes to AAS to add the HAMG 2388 were proposed. Modify TRVM 2305 Travel Industry Management (3-3-0) – removing Math/Special Approval TSI skills; retaining skills E (reading and writing). Modified course description to remove ‘Departmental approval required.’ Robert Bermea moved acceptance of skill code change; second by Gina Swearingen. Approved. TRVM 2335 expiration proposed as course will be replaced by TRVM 1306. Expire TRVM 2335 Travel Automation II (3-2-2) Gina Swearingen moved to expire TRVM 2335; second by Cathy Angell. Approved. Awards were revised to include course changes to TRVM 2335 and TRVM 1306. Revise Travel and Tourism AAS – replacing TRVM 2335 with TRVM 1306. Alberto discussed requested expiration of awards. Both Bioinstrumentation Technology and Netorking/Computer Electronics awards were developed as hybrids with Biotechnology and Computer Information Systems. Electronics does not offer hybrid Biotechnology or CIS classes. Expire Bioinstrumentation Technology AAS Bioinstrumentation Technology Certificate Mary Kohls moved to accept expirations of Bioinstrumentation Technology AAS and Certificate and Networking/Computer Electronics AAS and Certificate; second by Gina Swearingen. Approved. In addtion, Committee requested that Alberto complete the INSS.004 Program/Award Expiration form needed to evaluate for SACS submission. Networking/Computer Electronics AAS Networking/Computer Electronics Certificate A second request was discussed. Alberto will return to November 15, 2013 Committee with requests to revise Automation AAS and Certificate, prequisite changes to RBTC 2445, and RBTC 1405 course expiration. Proposal will include current and proposed award plans, advisory committee minutes, and approved INSS.002 forms. Revise Automation, Robotics and Controls AAS – removing RBTC 1405, showing 65 SCH Automation, Robotics and Controls Certificate – replace RBTC 1405 with RBTC 2445

Modify GISC 2420 Intermediate Geographic Information – changing distribution of hours from 4-4-1 (80 contact hours) to 4-3-3 (96 contact hours) GISC 2435 Programming for GIS – changing distribution of hours from 4-4-1 (80 contact hours) to 4-3-3 (96 contact hours) Charles Quinn moved to accept contact hour increases; second by Gina Swearingen. Approved. Bailey will review SACS requirements for making changes to contact hours.
