Revised Degree Plan

State required 60 hours for Degree plan. Must have 15 hours of core classes. Basic courses of Intro to Automotive, Basic Electrical, and Engine Repair should be taken 1st semester. Students must be able to read, write and do on level math to take test for Level II certificate. After completing degree, Level II Advanced Technical Certificate is recommended to enhance knowledge and ability, as some of these courses had to be left out when State dropped Degree hours to 60. Also recommend ASE certification whether certified or degreed.

Student Success Course in Internship for students with less than 12 credit hours. Students would receive 1 semester hour credit applicable for certificate or degree. College credit classes also available in some High Schools.

We are changing from hard copy Work Orders to electronic using Mitchell Manager. Tool room staff will write and all instructors will have access.

Generic Scan Tools recommended. MaxiDas and some others mentioned are just as efficient and more cost effective than SNAP ON.

Students should be held to high standards in dress and this will teach them to hold themselves to a higher standard. Uniform shirts required. Neatness in general highly recommended. Mike invited shop owners to come talk with students regarding work ethics.

Reminded that current NATEF Certification expires December 2017 Next Open House at RRC April 10, 2015. All are welcome. Vendors should set up by 8AM. Mike adjourned meeting and thanked all in attendance.
