1. Holistic grading will be held on Jan. 14 from 1-4 at HBC 219.
2. Fall '16 scheduling for English and Journalism full-time faculty will begin shortly.
3. RGC will be closed for remodeling in Fall'17. Most RGC classes will be moved to HLC. The chair will begin the process of moving classes during the 2016-17 academic year.
4. The Developmental Writing Department has asked to join the English Department. A final decision will be made by Fall'16. If the Dev. Writing faculty joins the English Department, they will continue to teach courses in their Department and will teach English sections only as overloads.
5. The proposed reorganization chart was shown. It continues to be revised and will be in effect in Fall '16. English would be a part of the new Liberal Arts Division.

ENGL 1301 Review Committee Report

Chris Arevalo, Chair of the English 1301 Review Committee, reviewed the proposed changes to the ENGL 1301 master syllabus. The revised syllabus was approved unanimously and will be in effect in Fall '16. The revised master syllabus will be posted on the English Department webpage by Feb. 1.

Luanne Preston discussed the Program review process she is conducting. She will be emailing all English faculty a questionnaire that addresses Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) and the survey will ensure greater participation from faculty. The questionnaire replaces SWOT meetings that were part or past Program Reviews. The results of the report will be posted on Google doc by March 15.

Learning Lab Survey

Susan Meigs and Jeff Chan reviewed the results of the survey about Learning Labs that was sent to all English faculty. Seventy-eight responses were received w/83% of faculty indicating they sent students to the Learning Lab. Survey results will posted on the English Department webpage by Feb. 1. The Dean will ask departments in the Communications division to work on developing clear department guidelines for writing tutors. The Dean will also ask the labs to develop training for writing tutors.

Public Loan Forgiveness Program

Jason Briseno from Financial Aid discussed the Public Loan Forgiveness Program. Loan holders who work at non-profits such as ACC can make income contingent payments for 10 years and have any remaining loan forgiven. The number to call for more information is 1-855-265-4038.
