Meeting & Agendas

The Chair asked the group to review the unofficial minutes for information and to seek clarification. A quorum was not present at the Januaty meeting, thus there are not official minutes.

-- Sonya Frazer, RDH -- Mary Jacks, RDH, MS -- Margaret Stark, RDH, BS -- Bonnie Waite, RDH Members introduced themselves and their membership role with the Committee.

-- Jen Starr was acknowledged and awarded a certificate of appreciaton for her service on the Committee. -- Program Accreditation: the Department is currently developing a self study document for the ADA CODA and in tandem preparing a program review document for the College. The CODA site team will be on campus for 1-1/2 days, February 14-15, 2012. -- Updated Program competencies: Via a workshop format (June 2011), the Department reviewed and reaffirmed their strategic plan. -- Program outcomes: The Department Chair shared 3 documents that demonstrate program outcomes. -- St. David\'s equipment grant: The St. David\'s Foundation awarded the Department a grant in the amount of $37,400 to purchase additional Spectra Caries Detectors (7) and for the purchase and installation of the a-dec ICV vacuum maintenance system for the clinic. -- St. David\'s needs assessment: the St. David\'s foundation is interested in investigating ways to increase the number of healthcare providers.

-- Eileen Klein informed group of the arrival of our new President, Dr. Richard Rhodes. -- Genny Flores announced that Manos de Cristo has acquired a site near Dell\'s Children Hospital. -- Mary Jacks provided a status report regarding the merger of the DH Program at UTHSC-SA with the Dental school, Dept. of Periodontology. -- Bonnie Waite announced the new CommUnityCare Dental clinic that will be opening soon off of braker Lane. -- Dr. David Yu discussed the liaison with the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) and the oral health connections to overall health. --- Sara Hernandez announced that Capital IDEA is moving into a new facility close to EVC. -- Dr. Jerry Katz discussed the CADS Foundation and the expanding area of sleep apnea. -- Margaret Stark mentioned the expansion of corporate dental clinics and the handing over of existing practices to youn associates.
