Liz asked for change in the Addictions Counseling Certificate Level 1 to an Advanced Technical Certificate to prepare students to meet state licensing requirements. She will add a prerequisite statement to the ATC. Revise Award Addictions Counseling Level I Certificate (35 SCH) – changing to Addictions Counseling Advanced Technical Certificate (35 SCH) Matthew Daude moved approval of the ATC with the addition of the prerequisite statement; second by Clark Peterson. Approved. Expire Awards Therapeutic Recreation Level I Certificate (36-37 SCH) – deactivate 8-21-2017 Deaf Services Level I Certificate (28 SCH) – deactivate 8-21-2017 Courses are proposed for expiration due to low graduation rates and employable persons need a higher level of preparation. Brandon discussed rational for co-requiring MUSI 1116 and MUSI 1311. Modify Courses MUSI 1116 Sight-Singing and Ear Training I (1-1-2) – changing co-required course to MUSI 1311 (Required, Previous or Concurrent). MUSI 1311 Music Theory I (3-3-0) – changing co-required course to MUSI 1116 (Required, Previous or Concurrent). Matthew Daude moved to approve course co-requisites conditionally with the addition of outcome and evaluation information to the course applications; second by Clark Peterson. Approved.

Carolynn requested approval of fundable NCBM non-advertised courses. She reported that students have been able to register in these non-advertised courses. This issue will be reported to David Fretwell. Cynthia discussed proposed changes to ACNT 2330 driven by professional needs. Modify Course ACNT 2330 Government and Not-for-Profit Accounting (3-3-1) – changing prerequisite from ‘Completion of ACCT 2301 (or the equivalent course at an accredited college/university) within the past 2 years’ to ACNT 1371; revising course description and student outcomes and objectives. Gina Swearengin moved to accept ACNT 2330 changes; second by Michelle Fitzpatrick. Approved.

Michelle proposed changes to mathematics requirement to provide students more options to meet the mathematics requirement. Modify Course HAMG 2332 Hospitality Financial Management (3-3-0) – changing prerequisite to MATH 1314, MATH 1332, or MATH 1342, and HAMG 1321 with a minimum grade of C or better. James Friedrichsen moved to accept revised mathematics options; second by Clark Peterson. Approved.

David explained course expirations result from omission of these courses from the Academic Course Guide Manual. • FYI – Certificate Levels Semester Credit Hour Ranges (SCH) GIPWE 2015, Chapter 3A: A workforce education program may lead to a single award (degree or certificate) or offer multiple awards/exit options (degree and/or certificates). Generally, it is recommended that the number and type of awards in a program not exceed the following: 1. one AAS or AAA degree, 60 semester credit hours (SCH); 2. two level one certificates, each between 15-42 SCH; (16 SCH required for Financial Aid students ); 3. one level two certificate between 30-51 SCH; In addition, colleges may incorporate enhanced skills certificates (6-12 SCH), continuing education certificates (360-779 contact hours), and advanced technical certificates (16-45 SCH) in a program based on workforce demand. • Minutes – November 11, 2016. Approved. The sub-committee will focus on information gathering, specializations, and whether there is a difference of 15 SCH between specializations. Matthew Daude will serve as sub-committee chair; Brian Bocknack, Marie Fofi, Ron Johns, Misty Rasmussen, and Tomi Welch will serve on the sub-committee.
