Presenter
Steven Mullins
Minutes
Steven Mullins gave the following updates: ⦁ History of Motion Graphics program, how it began, what awards are offered, equipment and software used and cost of tuition. ⦁ Demographics of students – Cohort of 12 students. Usually transfers from other degrees. Some already have 4-year degrees. 60/40 Male/Female gender in their late 20s. ⦁ Skills Taught – Conceptual, Design, Adobe package, Cinema 4D, and employ-ability. ⦁ Challenges – Design is very tough to teach in 2 years. Trying to teach mostly fundamentals and simplicity and does not teach high- end complex tools. Teaching skills to get them into an entry-level position. ⦁ Graduates - Listed businesses that have hired MG students – Tokyo Electron consistently hires ACC MG students or use them as interns. Need more industry/business support although most graduates do freelance/contract work. ⦁ Highland Campus Update - The department is planning on moving to HLC in 2020 and all creative departments will be clustered at Highland. ⦁ Student Work – Showed reels from previous student work.
