Schedule - Spring, Fall 2017
Reed Peoples
Dr.. Peoples reminded faculty that they need to send in their choices for classes for the Spring and Fall 2017 Semesters to Katy as soon as possible. Current upper level courses at Rio Grande that are in Building 300 will remain there. There was a discussion on which courses the Board will accept as Foundation courses. Also for now we will keep 4 ACNT 1347 already in the schedule. There was a question on whether we would need to add Payroll Tax course to the new Tax Specialist degree. Larry asked that the ACNT 1370 classroom be moved from 16 weeks to the 12 session, the online will remain at 16 weeks.

Faculty Assignment of Upper Division courses for Fall 2017 and beyond

There was a discussion of assignment of Upper Level classes as follows: Kimberly Cameron, ACNT 1391 and ACNT 1372; Sheila Ammons, ACNT 2375 and ACNT 2330; Jay Thibodeaux, ACNT 1347 and ACNT 2332; Denise White, ACNT 2303 and ACNT 2376; Larry Stephens, ACNT 1370; Cynthia Lovick, ACNT 2302 (online) and ACNT 2333; Tracie Miller ACNT 1331, ACNT 1393 and ACNT 1325; May Wang ACNT 2304 and ACNT 1371, Kristy McDermott, ACNT 1347 and ACNT 2309.

Denise asked if we wanted to try (online) Survey Monkey for Full Time and Adjunct faculty. Dr. Rhodes would be funding for Full Time Faculty to attend the TACTYC Conference.

ACNT 2330 Government and Not For Profit
Sheila Ammons
Sheila mentioned that the prerequisite for the ACNT 2330 course will be changing starting with the Fall 2017 Semester. The new prerequisite will be ACNT 1371. This change was approved by the Curriculum Committee.

ACNT 1303 Accounting for Non Accountants

The ACNT 1303 course will be changing to accommodate the Retail Management Certificate for the Management Department comprised of 8 courses, the project director is Donny Hurwitz.. The course will be kept as an Accounting Course and Dr. Peoples, Brian and La Tasha will be working to develop the course to satisfy the Retail Management requirement.

ACC Update Realignment

Reed mentioned that the ACC Update is on schedule to bring Associate Vice Presidents (3) and (1) in the Workforce area.

Accounting Department Realignment

Dr. Peoples told the committee that his plans are to step down as Department Chair at the end of the Fall 2019 Semester. Presently the requirement is that a faculty must have a doctorate in order to be Department Chair according to the State Board rules. At the present we have 3 Assistant Department Chair, one in the Technician Program at the Eastview Campus. Cynthia is our contact with the State Board of Accountancy. Reed reminded all full time faculty to list their duties as Assistant Department Chairs (before we form a committee to make sure responsibilities are distributed equally) The committee will be comprised of Reed, Denise, Brian and Cynthia.

RGC Update

Dr. Peoples advised everyone that we are working feverishly to move the classes that are currently at the Rio Grande Campus to the Highland Campus and other centrally located campuses. Cynthia will remain at Rio Grande in Building 3000, with Denise and Larry scheduled to move to Highland . Any course scheduled for Building 3000 will remain at Rio Grande

Enrollment is slightly down in the Accounting Department and overall in the College as well.

Dr. Peoples asked who was interested/willing to participate in this program.

Lighthouse Legislative Update

Dr. Peoples mentioned that he will be checking to see who in the Accounting Department is in violation of this mandate. There was a recommendation that the syllabi be added to Lighthouse and that a deadline be set for the syllabi to be entered into the system - the deadline needs to be before the start of classes.
