Nancy proposed additional Continuing Education Occupational Skills Awards for a self-paced program serving 80 students per year. Add New Occupational Skills Awards STEPS – Preparing for College and the Workplace (288 Contact Hours) STEPS – Occupational Skills Development (288 Contact Hours) STEPS – Workplace Readiness (288 Contact Hours) Jonathan Buckstead moved to approve the CE OSA awards; second by Regina Swearengin. Approved. Nancy continued with the CE Certificates which serve 50-60 people annually. Reed Peoples proposed creation of a crosswalk to credit for the CE courses. Add New Awards Accounting/Bookkeeping Series Institutional Certificate (76 Contact Hours) Administrative Assistant Series Institutional Certificate (140 Contact Hours) Clark Peterson moved to approve the CE Certificates; second by Regina Swearengin. Approved. Nancy discussed Certificated Nurse Aid Institutional Certificate to increase contact hours. This certificate prepares students for state certification testing. Continuing Education will also advise students on additional possibility in the credit areas. Revise Award Certified Nurse Aid Institutional Certificate – revising hours from 100 to 108 contact hours Jorge Lynch moved to accept CNA Institutional Certificate hour changes; second by James Friedrichsen. Approved.

G.W. introduced an additional AAS plan in Criminal Justice. Misty Rasmussen confirmed this is not a substantive change. Add New Award Texas Peace Officer Specialization Associate of Applied Science Reed Peoples moved to approve new award; second by James Friedrichsen. Approved.

Jim requested changes to the MATH requirements in the Economics AA. Revise Award Economics Associate of Arts – replacing MATH 1425 Business Calculus I and MATH 1476 Calculus II with MATH 2413 Calculus I and MATH 2414 Calculus II; revising footnotes. Committee had much discussion about MATH 1324. Reed Peoples moved to approve changes as requested; second by James Friedrichsen. Approved.

Doug requested minor changes to footnotes in two AAS plans. MATD 0414 is an exit level TSI course modeled after a similar course at San Jacinto Community College. NCBM 0121 prepares students for ALEC courses; NCBM 0190 meets needs of bubble students who almost tested into college level math.
