Meeting called to order at 11:35am.

Opening & Introductions

Michelle welcomed all the attendees to the summer 2017 advisory board meeting. she opened the floor to all attendees as they went around the room and introduced themselves. Michelle thanked the board for their overall assistance to the programs and welcomed new members. Michelle gave a brief run down of the agenda and noted she mainly wanted to focus on the upcoming Highland Campus.

Department Updates

-New Faculty: Stacey (newer member of the team) and then Franklin & Reggie (starting spring) both are adjuncts for Travel and Tourism. - Current class/enrollment- 274 students (declared majors) -Grads (fall 16/spring 17): 27 total -UofH Transfers: • 9(out of their 65) students enrolled fall 2016 at the SA campus • 42 students applied and matriculate from ACC at the college (both campuses included) in the last two years -Internships- good amount on all aspects -AHLA Mentorship Program: 4 students - HSMAI student group: 19 students -Hospitality SWOT completed

Up & Coming

-Annual Career Fair: still waiting on final room approval but is currently planned for Oct 11th 3p-5p. -Italy Internship Study Abroad leaves 7/8. We are really excited about this years intern group. The have some really great opportunities ahead of them. There will be 7 students this year working in all aspects of the industry. They will be there for 4 weeks.

-In Spring participated in Converge on the Capitol- 50 students -AHLA will now be providing two scholarships- one in spring and one in fall -HSMAI is offering an annual scholarship and several students can win this particular scholarship

Degree Changes/Updates

- We would like to see if it is possible to add an Etiquette course to all degree plans. We would like to try to change the computer course from a three credit course to a two credit computer class and add the one credit etiquette course. We are not 100% sure if we can find a two credit course but it we can we would like to make this change. Votes: 7 -yes, 0- No. Would like to move Travel Automation to an elective course and add Rec Services to the degree plan. Vote: 7-Yes, 0-No

College Updates - HLC

Highland Campus- Moving spring 2020 We are really excited about the move and the possibilities it brings to the students. It will bring so many more opportunities to them which will enhance our programs. We are going to split up into two groups to discuss hotel rooms vs demo room. Demo Lab Breakout: Liz reviews the over all space. Then asks for additional suggestions/what are we missing? Suggestions are as followed: - Request 6' tables, add 2 6'x18"""", banquet 6' and 8' - In addition to the standing podium request tabletop podium -Teach cake cutting -Add teleprompter to AV list -Request Flags- US & Texas -Plasma TV -Mac & PC laptops -Wifi and Bluetooth options available -Riser- 4'x4' Hotel Breakout: Michelle reviewed the overall space for the Mock Hotel Room and how they plan to utilize the room. Suggestions as followed: -Carpet and Ceramic - NO BTC, no marble (except counter tops) -Vinyl and paint -RFID for doors -Tech needs- Energy- everything can be done from your bed -Visual touch mirror- would go between the beds -Robot vacuum -Utilize Hotsauce for housekeeping -ability to use text softwares- FD to HSKP, etc -There are no closets in the new hotels
