The OTA Department Advisory Board is composed of recognized leaders in the field in Austin Community College’s service area. Members convene regularly to offer their combined expertise to influence the curriculum structure and instructional methods of the OTA program.

In the area of mental health, a suggestion was made to include in the fieldwork experience the billing and coding process.

Discussion included:
Parameters for Fieldwork 1 and expansion of the Pilot model in Fall 2012.
First Annual Career Fair was very successful. Five employers participated in the first Annual Career Fair and positive feedback was provide by all participants including students. Through feedback from community, we anticipate inviting 1 or 2 more employers.
Student feedback positive for mock interviews and provided very good feedback on the interview techniques and resume building.

2008 -2010 Three year totals. Number of graduates is 33.
2011 Graduating Class: 15. 14 of 14 graduates have taken and passed the exam.
One student scheduled to take December.
Our OTA program has program pass rate of 88%. The National Pass Rate is at 84%.
2008 National Pass Rate was 83%. ACC OTA Program Pass Rate was 100%.
2009 National Pass Rate was 86%. ACC OTA Program Pass Rate was 100%.
We are meeting this goal for the program.

Class of 2011-2013 – We had close to 70 applications submitted and 47 were qualified applicants. Twenty were selected for enrollment for Fall 2011.
Class of 2010-2012 – We had 45 applications submitted and 35 were qualified applicants. Twenty were selected for enrollment for Fall 2010.
Current Total Enrollment in OTA Program
2nd Year students – 19
One student withdrew due to medical reasons and is eligible for re-entry in Fall 2012.
Student who withdrew in Spring 2011 will be testing for re-entry in Spring 2012.
1st Year students – 19
Discussion Include the changing demographic of students. We are seeing more students applying to the program that have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree. We will continue to trend this change and we may have to address the selection criteria.

Discussion included Medicare changes and their impact on fieldwork and productivity standards.
Faculty will need to collaborate with community clinicians to ensure current documentation standards and regulations are integrated into appropriate course content.
Employer survey discussion has included methods of gathering data. We will work with fieldwork coordinators and employers to ensure the accurate contact information is current.
Other OTA programs in development in the Austin and surrounding area were discussed.
Feedback reflected the importance of outcomes of students\' preparedness for clinical and the value of fostering mutual relationships.
