Yolanda reviewed functions, membership and duties of each member. Agenda items are posted in the website. Additional meeting dates were sent to members for Spring and Summer of 2013. Although meeting dates are tentative, it is important to leave those dates opened in case the committee needs to meet due to TSI.

Hays High School is scheduled to test using ACCUPLACER on Wednesday, October 10. For the moment test scores will be manually loaded to Datatel as CPT scores. This is because ACCUPLACER, a while back, was called CPT on Datatel. IT is working on the programming so scores can automatically load to Datatel. COMPASS testing will continue on campus as well as ASSET.

The state is looking into condensing three writing and three reading courses into a four hour course so for Spring 2013 the Writing Department are piloting course that includes a lab. Connections is an integrated reading and writing learning community (IRW), and students must register for both courses. To be eligible, students must have a COMPASS score in reading of 78 or higher AND must have either passed DEVW 0320 with an A or B or have a Compass score of 5 on the writing essay and an objective score of 59 or higher. This course, DEVR 0220 and DEVW 0230, will target students. The course will be offered at RVS and RRC. The committee suggested the following…. 1. Change name, currently “Connections” 2. Include ACCUPLACER and ASSET scores to addendum 3. Change current cut-score from 5/59 to 5/56 Committee will not approve chart until cut score is changed to 5/56 and ACCUPLACER and ASSET scores are included.

Carolyn updated the chart by removing MATD 0360 and added MATD 0332. Doug suggested MAPS should be removed from the chart. Committee approved the changes.
