Mike Midgley and Gaye Lynn Scott co-chaired this meeting. Mike discussed the purpose and functions of the committee and welcomed new members.

This meeting focused on review of SB 497 conversions of degrees to meet the 60-SCH mandate. Each program area had been reviewed by Curriculum and Programs Subcommittee. Awards were reviewed to meet the 60-minimum hours required for completion. Core curriculum and general education components were reviewed, as well as course sequencing. Documentation of task force and/or advisory committees was provided to the subcommittee. Mike and Gaye Lynn proposed the September 19th agenda be considered in parts. 60-Hour Proposals Consent Items. Linda Smarzik moved to accept the proposed 60-hour plans and awards as reviewed and approved by the subcommittee; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved. Awards are identified under each program area below. Carol Hawk moved to accept approval of the Emergency Medical Service Profession, Dental Hygiene, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Veterinary Technology exemption requests for awards to exceed the 60-hour rule. Second by Reed Peoples. Approved. Awards will be submitted to THECB. Alternative 60-hour awards plans were also approved for each department requesting exemptions. Continuing with the consent agenda for course additions/modifications/expirations, Cathy Angell moved to accept all course changes for ACGM and WECM courses. Second by Gina Swearengin. Approved. Regina Swearengin moved to accept local need RNSG 1270 Nursing Process for Articulating Students. Second by Reed Peoples. Approved. Regular Curriculum Change reviews were also reviewed. Mary Kohls moved to accept addition of PSYC 1200 Effective Learning: Strategies for College Success; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved. Regina Swearingen moved to accept revisions to the Vocational Nursing Level II Certificate from 53 SCH to 43 SCH and to accept proposed changes to VNSG courses. Second by Paul Williams. Approved. Marcus McQuirter requested approval of two new Drama certificates: Sustainable Production Management Certificate (30 SCH) and Technical Theater Certificate (24 SCH) and six new DRAM courses to support these awards. Jonathan Buckstead moved to accept the Drama proposal; second by Cathy Angell. Approved. Bailey Lathem briefly reviewed the SACSCOC Competency Based Education Policy Statement.
