Schedule - Fall 2018
Reed Peoples
We will be adding a ACCT-2301 to San Gabriel Campus in the fall semester and ACCT-2302 in the Spring semester - Reed Peoples ACNT 1403 and ACNT 1404 will be changed to online classes - Reed Peoples All faculty are to review the fall schedule and make recommendations to the Department Chair - Reed Peoples

Summer Assignment of Classes

The Task Force was asked to review summer schedule and make recommendations for any necessary changes.

Trac/Dat Update
Denise White
Denise White gave an update on the TAC/DAT system. Faculty needs to upload assessment information in order for Denise to analyze and input into TAC/DAT.

Accounting Department Realignment
Reed Peoples
The assistant department chairs starting in the fall will be Denise White, Jay Thibodeaux, and Larry Stephens. Duties will be sent to them along with the minutes.—Reed Peoples Sheila will be retiring the end of August and accepting an adjunct position teaching the online Governmental Accounting (ACNT-2330) courses.—Sheila Ammons.

Accounting Technician Changes

Taskforce voted to change the Accounting Technician certificates and degree plans. Changes to the titles of the certificates and degree were approved. A new Quick Books Certificate was approved. EDUC-1300 was approved to be removed from the certificate programs but not the degree plan. A recommendation was sent forward to the advisory committee. See the attached changes made by both the taskforce and the advisory committee. The taskforce recommended replacing POFI-1349 (Excel) and POFI-2350 (Data Base Access) with an Intermediate level of Excel and the new BCIS-1305. Allowing students to test out of POFT-1127 (Introduction to Keyboarding) and POFT-1231 (Numeric Keypad Applications). Adding BUSI-1301 (Introduction to Business). Adding the Quickbooks Certification Exam at the end of the Quickbooks Certificate. Unsuccessful passing of the Certification exam will not keep students from moving on to completing the Bookkeeping and Full Charge Booking Certificate and Degree –Jay Thibodeaux

Accounting Specialist - Tax

Task Force voted to change the Accounting Tax Specialist certificate and degree plans. EDUC-1300 was approved to be removed from the certificate programs but not the degree plan. A recommendation was sent forward to the advisory committee. See the attached changes made by both the taskforce and the advisory committee.

CPA Exam Update

Although the department has been in the top ten for each quarter for the last two years, the department ranked 27th for the first quarter for 2018. The major problem was the FARS test.

Enrollment

The enroll for the Summer 2018 is on schedule to have a percentage increase over the Summer of 2017.

Texas Affordable Baccalaureate Expansion Grant Program
Reed Peoples
The Task Force was informed that the college is considering applying for a grant in the Texas Affordable Baccalaureate Program. This grant will allow students to get a 4 year degree in accounting in 3 years. Texas A&M Central Texas is taking under consideration to partner with us. Decision will be made by the end of June.

Perkins Funding

The Task Force recommended to ask Perkins Funds for the payment of the Quickbooks Certificate for Students at a cost of $2,000
