Garry explained need for revision of Game Design AAS and Game Design Level II Certificate to replaced COSC 1336 with GAME 1371 courses. Revise Awards Game Design AAS & Game Design Level II Certificate – remove GAME 1334 Video Game Art 1 and add PHIL 2303 Logic. Replace COSC 1336 Programming Fundamentals 1 with GAME 1371 Coding Basics for Designers Cathy Angell moved to approved AAS and Certificate II changes; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved. Renee proposed replacing a two-credit course in the Dental Hygiene AAS with DHYG 2201. DHYG 2201 modified to increase lab contact hours. Revise Award Dental Hygiene AAS Modify Course DHYG 2201 Dental Hygiene Care I (2-1-2) – changing lab contact hours from 2 to 4 Jonathan Buckstead moved to accept Dental Hygiene proposal and course modification; second by Patricia Collier. Approved.

Rudy reviewed course changes to remove fee and correct the contact lab hours. Modify Course RADR 2217 Radiographic Pathology (2-2-1) – removing lab contact hour from 1 to 0 and removing associated $50 course fee James Friedrichsen moved to accept RADR 2217 course changes; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved.

Nancy explained RNSG 1170 was no longer offered and requested approval to expire the course. The Mobility Track AAS was changed to identify the restricted elective as PHIL 2306 Ethics. Revise Award Mobility Track AAS Expire Course RNSG 1170 Nursing Process for Articulating Students (1-1-0) James Friedrichsen moved to accept the Mobility Track AAS revision and to expire RNSG 1170; second by Cathy Angell. Gaye Lynn discussed PHRA changes to non-course prerequisites. Modify Courses PHRA 1201 Introduction to Pharmacy (2-2-0) – changing non-course prerequisite to ‘Admission to Pharmacy Tech program’ PHRA 1309 Pharmaceutical Mathematics I (3-3-0) – changing non-course prerequisite to ‘Admission to Pharmacy Tech program’ James Friedrichsen moved approved of PHRA changes; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Patty reviewed detailed changes to the Physical Therapist Assistant AAS including adding an ‘OR’ option to MATH 1314, specification of SPCH 1318, and inclusion of PHIL 2306. Revise Award Physical Therapist Assistant AAS – updating courses Tomi Welch moved to approved proposed PTA AAS changes; second by James Friedrichsen. Approved. Footnotes will be replaced by ‘standard’ footnotes.

John discussed changes to all foreign language plans to include the ‘OR’ HUMA 1301 Great Questions Seminar option to EDUC 1100. Revise Awards – adding HUMA 1301 Great Questions course option and reordered courses Arabic AA Chinese AA French AA German AA Italian AA Japanese AA Russian AA Spanish AA Committee recommended removing proposed footnote 1 because courses meet Core Curriculum requirements. Linda discussed proposed Application Development AAS Specialization and Level 2 Certificate Specialization to provide training in using Apple Swift programming. Marcus introduced a new Workforce AAS plan with specializations. The new plan is designed to train technicians in the Theater Arts world to build set, make costumes, and acquire hands on skill to support productions. The awards will include 15 new local need courses. Implementation is planned fall 2020. Add NEW Award Technical Theater AAS with Specialization Specialization A: Make-up Artistry and Costume Technology Specialization B: Scenic Construction, Lighting, and Media Technology James Friedrichsen moved to accept an electronic vote on courses associated with proposed Technical Theater AAS and Specializations pending completion of the required course add forms; second by Jonathan Buckstead. Approved. Upon completion of the course forms, Dianne Olla will send out the entire Drama proposal to Curriculum and Programs Committee members for review/vote. Matthew Daude moved to accept the AAS plans with corrections to course numbers and completion of course add forms; second by James Friedrichsen. Approved. Corrected plans will be sent with the DRTE course add forms.

Committee Business Competency-Based Education Reporting, Instructional Method: CBE Template (Ron Johns Subcommittee Chair/Gaye Lynn Scott). • Ron provided a list of questions relative to competency based education application. Ron will email a sample populated form to Curriculum and Programs Committee members. • Definition of CBE to be determined. • Curriculum Committee will be the approver of each CBE course form. Committee members will be offered training on how to evaluate CBE course forms. Discussion of Proliferation and Efficacy of Associate Degrees for Student Success. • Committee will consider renovation of awards to reduce total number of awards. Many awards show only 3 different courses between the plans. Consideration to be given to using ‘shell awards’. Master Syllabus – Curriculum and Programs Committee Responsibility? • Gaye Lynn recommended Curriculum Committee be identified as owner of all Master Syllabi. Curriculum and Programs Committee Work Plan for 2018-2019: Scope and Focus. • The September agenda will be dedicated to defining and reviewing the scope, functions, and processes of the committee. • Ron Johns suggested Ron and Matthew create a summer work group to prepare for September Curriculum and Programs Committee meeting.

Mark discussed changes to the program designed to meet industry requirements for implementation fall 2019. Completers will be eligible for new employment positions with improved salaries. Two new certificates will support the revised AAS plan. Revise Awards – INFORMATION ITEM. Environmental Technology AAS will be published in catalog 2019-20.
