Marcus introduced a new Workforce AAS plan with specializations. The new plan is designed to train technicians in the Theater Arts world to build set, make costumes, and acquire hands on skill to support productions. The awards will include 15 new local need courses. Implementation is planned fall 2020.

Competency-Based Education Reporting, Instructional Method: CBE Template (Ron Johns Subcommittee Chair/Gaye Lynn Scott).
• Ron provided a list of questions relative to competency based education application. Ron will email a sample populated form to Curriculum and Programs Committee members.
• Definition of CBE to be determined.
• Curriculum Committee will be the approver of each CBE course form. Committee members will be offered training on how to evaluate CBE course forms.
Discussion of Proliferation and Efficacy of Associate Degrees for Student Success.
• Committee will consider renovation of awards to reduce total number of awards. Many awards show only 3 different courses between the plans. Consideration to be given to using ‘shell awards’.
Master Syllabus – Curriculum and Programs Committee Responsibility?
• Gaye Lynn recommended Curriculum Committee be identified as owner of all Master Syllabi.
Curriculum and Programs Committee Work Plan for 2018-2019: Scope and Focus.
• The September agenda will be dedicated to defining and reviewing the scope, functions, and processes of the committee.
• Ron Johns suggested Ron and Matthew create a summer work group to prepare for September Curriculum and Programs Committee meeting.
