Music Business, Performance and Technology AAS
Geoffrey Schulman informed the committee that the new awards will be offered at HLC; new studio space is being added during Phase 2 construction. Currently the Music Business, Performance and Technology program has only one AAS that has extensive lists of restricted elective courses; these restricted elective courses were broken out to create new AAS award plan specializations and the current AAS will be expired.
Committee requested a breakdown of commonality between each award (General Education and general core program related courses) and then the unique specialized courses. Jason Brisceno pointed out that some of the certificates only have 15 SCH, affecting Financial Aid funding; Geoffrey was aware and will work with his program on adding more credit hours to these certificates.
Geoffrey will return to April 19 meeting with breakdown of courses for each award plan specialization; will work with his program on raising the SCH on the 15 SCH certificates.

Will these plans be published in the catalog? Or should they only be published on program web pages?
Should we ask for a reconsideration of the visual depiction of program pathways (that is, the program map) so that we can embed a part-time pathway into the map?
Will Curriculum & Programs need to approve every part-time pathway that is developed?

1) Cybersecurity Specialization
2) Data Science Specialization
3) Software Development Specialization
Mary added that HLC and RGC will have specialized labs for cybersecurity courses.
The program has local industry and leaders support and ACC has officially notified UT Austin and TX State. Linda and Mary are currently working on Articulation Agreements; Dr. Cook met with UT in March and an agreement is in the process of being finalized.
Committee asked how students will be accepted and evaluated/placed into the program. Application and evaluation processes were discussed on entrance to the program and department approval stipulated on courses or at least courses that do have prerequisites.
Misty Rasmussen informed the committee that since ACC’s degree level change was already SACSCOC approved, then this BAS degree can be advertised with the standard disclaimer that it is pending SACSCOC approval, once approved by the Board and THECB.
Mike Midgley informed the committee that new costs will not exceed $2 million during the first five years of the program; therefore will not require additional THECB Board review beyond the usual review process.
Projected timeline: Curriculum and Programs Committee approve April 19, Board of Trustees approve May 6, and then submission to THECB and SACSCOC early May.
Linda and Mary will return to April 19 meeting to present finalized budget information, Articulation agreements, crosswalk of lower division courses and certificates to the three BAS specializations, along with an application/evaluation process and program-level student learning outcomes, and will present at April 19 meeting. New course applications requiring department approval will be revised.
