Updates: Academic Advising
Presenter
Kathy James
Minutes
Discussion: Early Alert Pilot Project - Working to create true early alert collaborations with faculty trying to notify all advising staff when a student is getting in peril. TLED and IT are working to streamline a way for faculty to use Blackboard (Observer). In this process, they can design where they want their alerts to be, i.e. missed grades, missed assignments, haven’t logged in for a while, or low test scores.
Decisions/Actions: Area of Study (AoS) information sessions have gone offline temporarily as one of the steps in the application process. An on-ongoing discussion related to what the new Area of Study (AoS) information sessions would look like moving forward. Adjuncts would need to be a part of the pilot. Jackie Burns shared the pilot information with the Sociology adjuncts, and it was well-received. This is the link she shared, Vidgrid on retention https://use.vg/8Pb7rm

Presenter
Holly Delacroix-DeRouen
Minutes
Discussion: - Current Assessments: ESOL, TSI, and ALEX – testing via Zoom as the first option. ALEX – Advance Math Placement using Proctor U. Examinee, which is the third-party proctoring service, that’s no longer funded by the college. This action will result in the students absorbing the cost. Eastview's supervisor will oversee the ESOL testing via Zoom. TSI – We have the A2 with three webinars to review the process of administering tests. Instructional Testing – Currently due to the online environment proctored testing is conducted online utilizing ACC Live Proctoring, Respondus Monitor, Lockdown Browser, and Proctor U.
Decisions/Actions: Several instructional committees made changes a new committee Testing 73 was formed. The charge is to try and move over by the spring with recommendations. For more information refer to

State reporting on alternative methods, to be reported by October 1st. TSI scores are not required for college-level courses, the systems will automatically place and fill from the TSI course list. A three-part project implemented mid-summer looking to include exit-level Dev Ed courses.
Decisions/Actions: TSI 2.0 Update- Launch date set for January 11, 2021. The CO-Board plans to meet on October 22nd to finalize the proposed benchmarks. Updates: Quick Reference Guide
Presenter
Katherine Dowdy
Minutes
Discussion: – Quick Reference Guide – The AAC committee along with the coordinating board passed a law in getting GED Scores to be listed as an alternative. The Coordinating board is making it officially across the state. By noting that it’s a law, will provide the underscore or foundation that is needed. I would like for our GED students to have the same rights to fail, as our high school graduates.
Decision/Actions: Will conduct a follow-up and provide information directly to Linda Terry.
