HIGHER ED OPPORTUNITY ACT: TEXTBOOKS
Presenter
Programming
Minutes
This project is completed and awaiting approval from Mike Midgley to move it to live. After seeing the application and discussion, the committee has the following recommendations: 1. Implement a “gateway” page similar to one used for Touchnet to notify students that they are leaving ACC’s website and going to Barnes and Noble. 2. Remove ACC’s logo from the Barnes and Noble website specifically because of the advertisements on BN site. 3. Change “Order Textbooks” text to “Order Textbooks from ACC’s Official Bookstore, Barnes and Noble” 4. Do not set the default to check the select box on all books. Committee would prefer that students check the “select” box for themselves. Remedy ticket # 140167 has been created. Theresa will pursue recommendations and report status at July WAC meeting

INSTITUTIONAL RESOURCE FOR STAFF/DEPT WEB DEVELOPMENT
Presenter
Theresa Harkins
Minutes
Most department staff do not have the expertise to properly develop their own websites. IRT provides this service to faculty and staff feel that they need the same services provided for them. Additional requests have come to allow “open source” and “web technologies” such as, Joomla and Ajax, to help with web development. This should be a budget request for staff and infrastructure to support this. ACC tries to promote self-service for our customers so we need to be able to provide them with excellent websites to provide that self-service. Theresa will send this request forward to the Student Services Council for recommendation and will keep committee informed on any progress.
