A quorum was not present thus the meeting was informational only.

The Fall October 23, 2017 minutes were approved electronically.

1) Program outcomes to date: Graduating class 2018: Dental Hygiene National Boards (100% first time pass rate); Western Regional Examining Boards (WREB) 94% first time pass rate/100% year end pass rate; exam specific data yet to be received. 2) The college served as a host site for WREB April 25th-29. 3) The program site visit by the Commission on Dental Accreditation is scheduled for February 2019. 4) The Department Chair is resigning her position with the college at the end of the fiscal year (August 31, 2018); a hiring process is under way for a replacement.

1) The Department Chair showed admissions data to date for the fall 2018 entering class with a comparison using the applicant ranking score for the prior year. Once confirmed, data will be shared with the Committee. It appears that the incorporation of the TEAS scores (reading and language usage) are making a significant difference. Student retention rates will be used to further evaluate the change in the ranking score calculation/selection process. 2) The Department Chair informed the group of the recent laser training of faculty trainers with the plan to train the rest of the clinical team and incorporate the technology into patient care. 3) The college is currently in the process of purchasing new delivery systems and related cabinetry for the dental hygiene clinic.

Genny Flores discussed the expansion of patient care hours at Manos de Cristo and the need for additional trained staff (i.e., dental assistants). Similarly Bonnie Waite expressed the need for experienced assistants, front desk personnel and dental hygienists at CommunityCare
