Approval of Minutes from the Last Meeting- will have a link sent to everyone to vote to have minutes from the 11/29/2023 meeting approved. Wasn't enough people at the meeting to do a forum vote. Future Meetings 11/22/2024-11:00am-1:30pm 05/02/2025-11:00am-1:30pm Enrollment for the Summer- Dropped, due to lack of interest in Accounting, costs, student loans. The Accounting Department as a whole in Business Studies represents 45%-47%

a. Interviews - Admin, adjunct, and full-time: Personnel: Germaine ( New Administrative Assistant) 3 New adjunct- Lawanna Brown ( teaches at Pflugerville ISD, Accounting Technician classes) Lillian Spell ( Auditor, Transfer Courses) Chris O'Donnell ( Full-time Faculty, works at the High schools) New Adjunct - Lane Travis will be starting this Summer 2024 Semester- helping with the technician classes and Quick book courses New Full Time Faculty Position- Waiting on HR to decide, will probably have the results at the End of the Semester. b. Data Summit- New Initiative: Free tuition program, expected to start this Summer& Fall 2024 Semester. - Student who graduate next month , will have free tuition. Chase- limits to the Free Tuition discussion 4 Bachelor's Program- Computer Science, Nursing, Manufacturing, Software Development GPA requirement- maintain a 2.0 GPA Pipeline TACTYC Discussion continues about the Tuition- Pro's and con's if a student doesn't qualify Student will still have relief, lesser fees Out of District benefits.

- Modified Program Maps- Approved for Fall 2024 -Curriculum didn't change significantly 1 Change- Added a New Tax Course for Fall 2024- Survey of Tax

New Program Development with Local High schools

- In the process of working with High school Departments Freshman and sophomore high schoolers finish ACNT 1403 and ACNT 1404 then when be given dual credit for ACNT 1311 and ACNT 1313 - Bringing students in as Adjunct, because they have an Accounting Background ( Entry Level Position)

ACC Accelerator Program worked with the Foundation Communities, Expansive college wide. 11 Students were paid at ACC Minimum wage $22 an hour Completed 421 Tax Returns, exceeded the goal of 250. $63,000 refunds put into savings Getting the Accounting Department Involved More

Update on Apprenticeships in the Accounting Department

Apprenticeships help students get hired early - If approved by the Department of Labor, use $2000 Grant money, covers for Enrolled Agent Certificate - Students will be able to learn the job at a early age - Offering hands on tax courses -Helping Students get lined up with employers -Give Students the opportunity to take skilled courses that will help them get an Associate's Degree and then go to a 4 year College to get a Degree in Applied Science, then look into getting their CPA certification. Credentials are stackable.

Updates on Accounting Student Club

-April 27, 2024 from 10am-1:30pm, will be partnering with TXCPA for Resume Review and Mock Interviews. -35 Students have signed up for the event -5 Active Apprenticeships -Open discussion for suggestions for upcoming events: Doing ZOOM webinars, One on one meetings with the students. Having more in-person events. Events that work around others schedule. Career Fair Fall -taking advantage of any career fairs. - From Majors Day, undeclared students stopped at the Accounting Table -Making employers aware of the Accounting Programs that are offered -Partnering with Career Connections - Engaging students more with Information about Accounting.
