Blackboard Ally rollout up-date
Presenter
Sean Loraas & Travis Irby
Minutes
Ally is a plug-in to Blackboard that will look at files uploaded to Blackboard and
review and evaluate the documents based on accessibility standards.
Ally helps instructors understand what percentage of their documents are
accessible and guides them on how to remediate the document to meet
accessibility standards. On the student side, it gives the students three or four
formats to choose from.
This semester phase 1 of Ally “pilot-program” was rolled out to and has been
running for about month. The main goal is to determine what support will need to
be in place for faculty as well as students in place with (about 15 faculty, 10 to 15
classes). It’s being rolled out in stages with General Education and Nursing
programs.
Ally “pilot-program” is being rolled-out in stages, with 15 Instructors with multiple
sections. We are initially seeing that Ally does not need a lot of support, so far.
Only two issues during roll-out, which were PDF files.
